After studying with Adam at the school, Tanya gets tired and decides to go home. Bulk and Skull, who have night patrol duty, have her walk them home since a full moon is out! Adam stays behind, and while checking the television about the coming storm, he discovers that his favorite monster movie, The Bride of Hackensack, is on. He then falls asleep watching it. As it is going off, a black cat wakes him up by knocking over his drink. It then runs off, and he chases after it into the hall. Rita and Zedd appear, and when he tries to morph, he discovers that his Zeonizer is gone! Rita and Zedd offer to team up to defeat Mondo. When Adam refuses, they tell him that while he was sleeping, the Machine Empire conquered Earth and transformed the other rangers. Only the powerful sorcerer can stop Mondo, but only a being of good can stand before him. He must follow the black cat to the sorcerer but must first get the cape of a vampire, the hair of a werewolf, the wrappings of a mummy, and the eye of a cat.
Adam follows the cat into a dungeon version of Ernie's Juicebar. There, he meets "Tomacula". Mondo, realizing that he is trying to find the sorcerer, sends Cogs. Adam defeats them and steals Tomacula's cape. Tomacula and the other monsters go after him, and then a rope appears. A voice that sounds like Rocky's tells him to climb up. Adam does and appears in a forest.
There he meets Lord Henry, and the two are then chased by wolves. After crossing a river, Lord Henry transforms into a werewolf! He runs off, and Adam finds a piece of the werewolf's hair in the bushes. He then meets Lt. Stone as a villager and realizes that all the characters are from the horror movie that he was watching. He says that he's on a scavenger hunt, so the villager sends him to a visiting professor to help him. Adam thinks it will be Billy, but it turns out to be Skull, who has resurrected Bulk the mummy! Adam takes the wrappings and runs.
Adam enters a lab and meets Billy as Dr. Hackensack and Alpha as Ay-Gor. Dr. Hackensack then activates Tanya as the Bride of Hackensack. The black cat turns into Kat as the witch Valencia. Adam sees that she is wearing a cat's eye necklace and takes it. He is then suddenly in front of Zordon as Zordonicus the sorcerer. For the final test, he must choose a ranger to fight a monster. Adam doesn't want to choose but accidentally selects Tommy, who fights Quadrafighters and a monster. He manages to trick them into firing at each other and then destroys the monster with the Zeo Five Power Sword.
Adam tells Zordonicus that he must save Earth now, but the sorcerer reveals himself to be Mondo! As Cogs and monsters surround Adam, he wakes up and realizes that it all was a dream...
