Moments Later - Recap

Hannah had received a text from someone anonymously asking her to meet them out in the darkened parking lot. She walked out, looking for the person when she was approached by a car with bright headlights, picking up speed and hitting her head on. The girls watching screamed out Hannah's name as she bounced off he hood and then the windshield. coming to rest on the cold hard ground as the car sped off into the night without stopping. The girls ran to her, calling out her name and crouched round the unconscious Hannah as one of them called for an ambulance and help. The girls asked one another if they had seen who had been driving, who the car might have belonged to, etc. They knew about the text because Hannah had informed them about it, but nothing else. Hannah's mother, Mrs. Meredith, was called and she raced to the scene, asking if the girls were fit to drive to the hospital. When they said that they were, she said she would meet them there.


At the hospital, Hannah's mother talked with the doctor, then told the girls that Hannah had sustained a broken leg and ankle, cracked ribs and numerous contusions, but that she would be alright. The tearful girls were told to go home and that Hannah's mother would inform them when Hannah might have visitors. The girls gathered outside the hospital in the parking lot and discussed what they had seen. Aria had been in the woods to meet her current boyfriend who also happened to be a high school teacher, Mr. Ezra Fitz, with whom she was having an illicit affair and had not wanted anyone to see them meeting. She claimed that she had seen Noel hiding in the woods and felt certain that he had had something to do with Hannah's accident. She said that that means someone had seen them meeting last night and was concerned that it might have been Toby Cavanaugh.

Later the next day, when Aria met again with Ezra Fitz, he showed her the writing that someone had put on his car's back window. It said" I see you." Aria had heard that Toby Cavanaugh had been picked up the the police last night, so it could not have been him lurking there in the woods that night. Could it have been Noel? It had looked like him, but what had he been doing there, hidden amongst the trees?


Noel came to see Hannah in her hospital room that day, telling her that he had been in the woods as a joke, wanting to give the girls a good scare, but it had obviously gotten out of hand and he apologized for his part in it. He said that he had never meant for it to go as far as it had. Hannah asked him who had told hm about her accident to which he replied that he'd been hanging with Shawn that night and Shawn had told him about it. When the girls came to visit with Hannah later that day, she told Aria that she felt that Noel had lied to her, but why?


At the Fields home, Mr. Fields was talking with his wife about various subjects when she mentioned that she felt scared about the two of them, that he had been gone for those eight months taking care of business and that she no longer felt that their daughter, Emily, was being truthful with her. She wasn't even sure that she could talk to Emily and that Emily had a secret, but wouldn't tell her parents. Mr. Fields suggested that she buck up her courage and just ask Emily what was bothering her, that he felt sure Emily would tell her mother the truth and not to feel apprehensive about talking to her daughter. Mrs. Fields began to cry when Mr. Fields told her that he might have to leave again soon on business, something about supervising a team in Texas.


At Hannah's hospital room, the door began to open very slowly which spooked Hannah. Who was trying to get into her room? When a white lacy bra was pushed through the slim opening and began to wave, Hannah burst into laughter and Mona's head poked through. Mona came to her bedside and perused the cast on Hannah's broken leg, cocking an eyebrow, and telling the girl that she looked kind of...vague. Hannah laughed apologetically and told her that that was because she had no makeup on. Mona waved a cosmetic bag and told her that she had come to the rescue. Mona sat down on the bedside and began to apply lipstick to Hannah's pale lips as she apologized for uninviting Hannah to her party, asked if they could be friends once more. Yes, of course, Hannah said and lay back to enjoy Mona's professional administrations to her face.


That night, in Hannah's darkened hospital room, the door began to open and two booted male feet appeared from behind it. The male figure walked slowly to her bedside, rubbed her brow with its fingers, gently kissed her forehead after gazing upon her sleeping profile, turned and walked out of the room. Hannah woke and watched after the figure, recognizing Lucas' form. She went back to sleep.


Next morning, Hannah woke to see her smiling mother sitting beside her bed. Her mother asked who had brought the lovely orchids. Hannah told her that Shawn had spent some time with her that morning, bringing the colorful blooms. After some small talk, Mrs. Meredith mentioned that she had made a financial arrangement with the hospital to pay the bill and that Hannah was not to worry about it. Hannah smiled and said that she knew her mom could handle it.


That night, a very sleepy and medicated Hannah woke to see Alli, clad in a candy striper's uniform, standing near her bed. Hannah asked Alli where she had been, to which Alli gave a vague reply, telling her that she was alive, had to come back to see if Hannah was alright, that Hannah remembered more than she knew what had happened to Alli and not to worry.


Emily revealed to her parents that she was gay to which her parents were shocked and dismayed, but her father told her mother that at least she was alive and well, and did that not count for something? They could work through this.


Lucas brought Hannah pudding and when she brought up that she knew he had kissed her last night, she told him that she didn't want him as her boyfriend, that she already had one and she didn't feel the same for him as he did for her. Lucas left the room in a huff, feeling hurt and let down.


Aria told Spence about her affair with Ezra Fitz to which Spence said that she had better be careful. Aria said that it was a mutual like affair and that they felt the same about each other.
