Show Tidbits
The theme song is performed by The Friendly Indians. Steve Franks, who is the creator of the show, is in the band. This is one of the few cases where a show's creator has written and performed the theme song to his or her own television show.

Psych is mainly filmed in White Rock, BC, Canada even though it is supposed to take place in California. The palm trees that are often seen in the background are actually props.

"Psych-Outs," which are usually either bloopers or karaoke renditions, are only shown during the credits of original broadcasts. For the repeated broadcast of an episode, the theme song's first verse plays over the credits.

"The Big Adventures of Little Shawn and Gus" is an animated sketch that runs during commercial breaks. It first appeared during the episode "There's Something About Mira."

Shawn and Gus have different choices of vehicles in the show. Shawn's motorcycle is a Norton 750 Commando. The "little blue car" that Gus drives is a Toyota Yaris liftback.

Gus often uses his keen nose, nicknamed the "super-smeller," to find clues and to deduce information. In the episode "Spellingg Bee," he was able to smell the sulfur that poisoned Spellmaster Cavanaugh. In "Woman Seeking Dead Husband: Smokers Okay, No Pets," he figured out that someone was in the house he and Shawn visited by the smell of laundry. In "Who Ya Gonna Call?" the scent of alcohol after the car crash told him the driver had been drinking.

Pineapples have been referenced in many of the episodes. The obsession started in the first episode, when James Roday improvised a line about cutting up a pineapple for the road. Steve Franks decided to keep the line, and since then, pineapples have either been mentioned or shown in many of the episodes to follow.
