September 13, 1956/Summer 1968: In 1995, Doctor Samuel Beckett takes an elite group of scientists into New Mexico to develop a top secret project called "Quantum Leap". Even though it is not ready yet and Gooshie warns Sam not to leap, he steps into the accelerator. Sam awakes with his memory "Swiss-cheesed," and discovers he's in the body of Air Force test pilot Tom Stratton, with a pregnant wife and a total inability to fly.

However, once he succeeds, he discovers that he has another mission to complete. Once that is completed, Sam leaps into the life of a minor league baseball player who must bat his team out of last place.

June 15, 1972: In Sam's third leap, he is an English teacher named Gerald Bryant. In order to leap he must help Oscar and Jamie Lee so that they go on to get married. In the original history, Jamie Lee married Gerald Bryant and the latter was killed by her father in a so-called, "shotgun wedding". Sam also takes on another mission. He notices that his old flame Donna Eleese is working at the nearby bar and Sam thinks this he has been given a second chance.

Alia lets on that she feels trapped into her evil doings by her own observer, Zoey, and the computer that controls her project, Lothos. Sam and the female leaper construct a plan to help Alia escape her evil controllers. But will she leap with Sam...or will Sam leap with Alia?
