December 24, 1962: As a personal valet to a rich uptown millionaire, Sam must convince the bitter man not to tear down the building where a Salvation Army mission is located in order to build a large plaza bearing his name. So, on Christmas Eve, Sam and Al try to "Scrooge" him, showing the past, present...and the future in an attempt to change his mind.
Michael Blake (Charles Rocket) was born on July 11, 1922 and, in the original history, committed suicide on June 3, 1976. In a tragic case of life imitating art, Rocket took his own life on October 7, 2005, less than fifteen years after the production of this episode.
At the end of this episode, Scott Bakula (Sam) and Dean Stockwell (Al) say "Merry Christmas, everyone."
This is the first of two Christmas-themed episodes. The other is "Promised Land - December 22, 1971
". They are also the only leaps that take place in December of any year.
Al: (quietly) Oooooh!...(shouts) Hey Blake, wake up!...(quietly) Oooooh!
(Blake wakes up)
Blake: Wait a minute…I know who you are! You’re the jerk from the lobby! I recognize the bad clothes and pale complexion.
Al: Jerk! I am the Ghost of Christmas Future!
Al: (singing) Deck the halls with me and Beebe…
Sam: I'm a 200 hundred pound valet!
