Food and Wine Connoisseur, played by Ted Allen
Ted Allen takes care of food and wine on the show. He helps the straight guys learn to cook or to brush up on their cooking skills; takes them to restaurants to help widen their culinary horizons; and arranges caterered food for certain events such as wedding. He consults with the straight guy and his family and loved ones as to their tastes, and helps them both choose a menu for the 'end event' (either cooked by themselves, or catered, depending on the event), and helps give them the skills they need to cook more and be more confident with food and cooking in the future. He also helps the straight guy with wine and gives tips on wines and other (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) drinks.
Ted Allen is a journalist and writer who has specialised in writing about food and wine. He started out as a restaurant reviewer for Chicago Magazine, and has been a contributing editor for Esquire since 1997. He often appears on other food- and cooking-related TV shows and has published his own cookbook. |
