The scene opens and Burt receives a cardboard swan as a courier package. He tells Virginia that her cousin Delilah has sent her a cardboard chicken. She opens it to see what is inside and finds a DVD. The DVD is an announcement of Delilah’s wedding in Las Vegas. In the video, she shows off her dazzling ring, which her fiancée, an air force officer, fetched with a big fat bonus. She says that she cannot reveal why he got the bonus, but that the Israelis are going to get blamed for it. Delilah goes on to invite them, but with a teaser for Virginia, that she might not have the money to fly there. Virginia refuses to attend the wedding saying that she always feels humiliated about the way Delilah treats her after inviting her to parties. Virginia remembers how she did it when they were young...
