He said he would kill me. Those were the dying words of a mind reader as something went horribly wrong during a performance of the act Fernandez and Abel. The gun in their act that is normally loaded with a blank shell this time has a real bullet. The police arrest Abel, the other half of the act. Jeff, who was at the performance, thinks someone else planted live ammunition on Abel so Fernandez would die. To investigate he gets a job at the theater as a "solo" mind reader - with Marty's help. | | There are no foreign summaries for this episode: Contribute |

Episode Quotes |

Jean: How much are we getting?
Jeff: Pardon?
Jean: For the act.
Jeff: Ah. Well, I haven't fixed a fee yet.
Jean: Jeff Randall hasn't fixed a fee? | Jeff: (after hearing someone mention Gloria's name) Gloria?
Jean: Gloria Marsh, the star of your show, "mind reader". | Marty: (as Jeff is preparing to go onstage) You're nervous!
Jeff: Well, aren't you?
Marty: I can hardly die a death, can I? | Jeff: You know me, Inspector. Only too happy to help.
Inspector Nelson: That's the trouble, Randall. I do know you, and I wish I didn't. |

Episode Goofs |
| |
In the opening scene, the audience member hands the gun to Abel with the gun closed (which is reiterated at the end of the episode when Jeff re-creates the events leading up to the murder). However, the gun chamber is still open when the camera shows it in Abel's hand. | Gloria is obviously and poorly lip-synching her song. | In the scene where Gloria is murdered, the "fatal blow" to her head clearly misses her head. | Why would the murderer stay dressed as a woman when the police were looking for a woman, not a man? |
