Bert "Sock" Wysocki, played by Tyler Labine
Bert “Sock” Wysocki is a slacker, and proud of it. He has no ambition, no life goals, no driving desire to succeed in life. As long as he can drink, play video games, dance, hit on hot chicks, and hang out with his friends, he’s happy. He only works at the Work Bench because it gives him enough money to pay for doing what he likes to do. Sock isn’t interested in being the best employee, and holds the record for winning the “Dog of the Month” award (until Sam managed to take it away from him through sheer underperformance).
If there’s one thing Sock values, it’s his friends. When Sam has faltered in his quest to collect escaped souls, Sock has always been there driving him on. When Sam needs a hand, Sock is there. Maybe Sock has found a life’s goal after all...
Sock does have an instinctive talent for MacGyver-ing: taking items from around the Work Bench and make them into something useful for soul hunting. He’s also a bottomless well of pop culture knowledge, including horror movies, although this often serves to confuse the situation when he gets something wrong or the real-life supernatural stuff they meet doesn’t match up with his expectations.
Also, despite himself, Sock is getting sucked into the unseen world of the supernatural. After deciding to obsess on Gladys the DMV demon, he actually did some research on the subject. An outcast of sorts himself due to an early growth-spurt, he can sympathize with the demons who were kicked out of Heaven after losing their battle for supremacy. However, Gladys sending him a sexual dream seems to have convinced him to give her a wide berth. For now.
