Sam is at the counter of the Work Bench when the Devil turns up with a toolbox. He asks Sam to take it outside for him, and reveals that he wants Sam to do some plumbing work for him. He sends Sam to the house of Mimi, an attractive woman who jammed up her dishwasher. As Sam works on it, she shows him a photo of her boyfriend, Jerry… who turns out to be the Devil.
Back at the Work Bench, Sam tells Ben and Sock about the situation, and Sock is duly impressed with the Devil’s taste in mistresses. Sam is more worried about Andi, who has been acting distressingly normal since he tried to give her the birthday necklace. Ben and Sock figure she’s acting like a guy, avoiding the situation. Since they’re stuck on food court duty, Sam starts cleaning under the counter… and the Devil teleports him into a coffin with a dead man. After getting Sam out, the Devil explains that Sam’s new assignment is Dennis Grayson, a funeral home owner who stole organs from his dead clientele before cremating them and covering up the evidence. Grayson himself was cremated, and the Devil warns that he is now a bodiless spirit. He gives Sam a list of the man’s victims and tells him to focus on Sarah Negly. When Sam mentions Mimi, the Devil first claims not to know her, and then tells Sam not to mention her again.
Sam ends up back at Mimi’s when she has more work that needs done, and she figures Sam knows about Jerry. “Jerry” hasn’t called her back and she’s been waiting years between his on-again/off-again visits. When Sam heads back to the Work Bench, he finds his new vessel: a blowdryer. As he and the guys head out to look up Sarah Negly, they spot Ben’s grandmother shopping for an upcoming party. Ben tries to keep Sam and Sock away from her but no luck, and she eye them suspiciously, Sam in particular. Outside, Ben says that his grandmother has “The Eye” and can see evil. At the Negly house, he explains that he’s not embarrassed about his family: he’s embarrassed about Sam and Sock.
They try to find Sarah Negly end up talking to her son, as she died and was cremated at the Grayson funeral home. The house starts to shake and the doors close, sealing the guys outside. They can only look through the window as Sarah Negly’s ashes come to life and kill the son.
The guys head back to the Work Bench and Sock finally tells Sam to just go ahead and ask Andi out on a date. He does so but she blows him off. Ben gets her alone and suggests that she should quit stringing Sam along, and she admits Sam might have a chance with her.
The Devil’s list of Grayson’s victims is huge, but Sock come up with a plan: they go to each house, he’ll convince the owners they’ve won free carpeting from the store, and Sam and Ben will sneak in and steal the ashes. The plan actually works and they end up with Sock’s trunk filled with zip-it bags of ashes. Ben heads off to his grandmother’s party and asks them not to come, since he doesn’t want to become the family outcast. Sock drops Sam off at home and promises to put the ashes somewhere safe.
Sam goes to his house only to find the Devil waiting for him. The Prince of Darkness is unhappy that Mimi is trying to call him and thinks Sam is prodding her into doing it. He tells Sam to focus on the escaped soul, not the living, and to keep his mouth shut around Mimi. When Sam refuses, the Devil temporarily seals his mouth shut with string, then leaves.
In his bedroom, Sam considers the necklace present and his father comes into to discuss the matter. After noting it took him a while before he finally married Sam’s mother, he suggests that Sam shouldn’t wait around forever for something that might never pan out.
The next day, Sam and Sock are back at Mimi’s working on her plumbing when she breaks into tears. Sock decides they should all go to Ben’s party whether he wants them there or not. When they arrive, Ben reluctantly lets them in and Sock dances with Mimi… until she mentions that “Jerry” gets jealous pretty easily.
Sam wants to have Ben’s grandmother use the “Eye” to find who is next on the list to die. She reluctantly agrees but first examines Sam’s palm… then spears him in the hand with a fork and screams “El Diablo!” Ben quickly gets Sam out of there. Sam and Sock take Mimi home and she asks Sam if she should stop waiting for Jerry and get on with her life. Sam says she should but an earthquake shakes the place and they realize that Mimi’s mother was cremated at the Grayson funeral home. They get inside and find the cremation urn in the washing room. It ends up breaking but Sam uses a hose from the washer to wet down the ashes and Sock sucks them up with a vacuum cleaner then seals the outlet.
After giving Mimi a bogus explanation, they head for the community center where they left the vessel. However, the car starts to shake and Sam realizes that Sock left the other ashes in the trunk. They arrive at the community center where Ben is just leaving with his grandmother. The three guys go inside and find the vessel as the possessed ashes come after them. They use the blowdryer and capture the soul, leaving the ash behind. Ben’s grandmother come in and blesses them for doing God’s work.
Later, the Devil shows up at the store to congratulate Sam. He also says that Mimi is moving to New Mexico, and isn’t happy that Sam told her to. Sam thinks the Devil is covering up his own feelings but the latter snaps his fingers and announces that Mimi is dead and that it’s Sam’s fault. He then shrugs and says he was just messing with Sam and Mimi is fine.
Mimi is having a garage sale to get rid of her old things. Sam visits and runs into a young woman, Cady, who shares his interest in bad movies. Mimi thanks Sam for helping he decide to move on with her life, and introduce Cady as her daughter. Sam realizes that Cady is 20 year sold… and Mimi was dating the Devil for 20 years.
Later, Sam, Ben, and Sock are on the shore discussing the situation, and Sock wonders if the Devil set the whole thing up so Sam and Cady would meet, and have an unholy child. Sam is skeptical and decides to call Cady, since his relationship with Andi isn’t going anywhere. They say a few words over the recollected ashes and then blow them out to sea.
