Coming to Grips - Recap
Sam is preparing dinner for Andi at the condo when a winged demon attacks him: it’s Tony, who demands to know why Sam betrayed him to the Devil. Sam convinces him he was tricked, and Tony helps with the dinner. He notes that he’s moving on to a cabin in the country and rebuilding an army to defeat the Devil. Andi arrives and Tony hides up on the ceiling.
The next day, Sam and Andi arrive at work and see Sock and Josie are back together. Ben is envious of both guys now that they have women. They offer to help him find a girl and go over his list of the perfect woman. Ben’s standards are a bit specific and Sock suggests he kill the list.
Sam is admiring Andi when the Devil teleports him to a soccer field where he reveals that many of the kids have the same father: escaped soul Jack King, a narcissist who runs a sperm bank and fathers all the children himself.
Back at the Work Bench, Sam and Sock find the new vessel: an extendible scythe. They’re unaware that Andi is watching them. She comes in but Sam begs off on their lunch date and departs with Sock for the sperm bank. They pretend to be donors and get into Jack’s office, unaware that Andi has followed them and is parked outside. Sam manages to decapitate him near the window, and Andi sees what happened and drives away. Jack survives decapitation and Sam attacks again, cutting off his hand. Finally Sam nails the body and absorbs it into the vessel, the nails the head. Sam and Sock head out to lunch, unaware that the hand is still crawling around.
At the Work Bench, Ben is working on cutting down his list and chats with British co-worker Sara. She advises him that he should look for his soul mate no matter what. Sam brings flowers to Andi in the break room, but she punches him and demands to know why he killed a man. He can’t explain and she prepares to go to the police, but he asks for 24 hours to meet with his boss and get permission to tell her the truth: she agrees.
Sam goes to the DMV and leaves the vessel with Gladys. However, he’s attached a note to it for the Devil. She sends the vessel down to Hell, and Sam is instantly teleported to an adult store where the Devil tells him that Sam missed a piece. The Devil shows him footage that Jack visited the adult store, and can regrow his entire body from any piece. Sam promises to catch him but asks for permission to tell Andi the truth. The Devil agrees, but demands that Sam grant him one favor, no matter how terrible it is. Sam has no choice but to agree.
Back at the condo, Sock and Ben aren’t thrilled at the news but offer to back him up when he tells Andi. Sara comes in from the bathroom and Ben reveals that he married her so she could get her green card. Sock isn’t thrilled, until he hears Sara paid Ben $1,600.
Sam and the guys meet Andi at the bar and he tries to break the news, until Sock breaks in and lets her know. Andi doesn’t believe him and warns him he only has a few more hours until she goes to the police. Sam goes back to the sperm bank on his own and finds Jack’s address book, complete with the birth dates of all his impregnated women. The Devil appears and warns that Jack won’t be coming back, and Sam’s too distracted by the business with Andi. He tells Sam to handle it and says he may have to handle it if Sam doesn’t.
At the Work Bench, Andi is leaving when someone grabs her.
Sam gets to the store and tries to call Andi without any success. Sock and Ben show up to assure him they’ve solved the problem: they locked Andi in the trunk of their car. Sam brings her a juice box and doesn’t believe her when she agrees with what he’s saying. When Sam offers her the juice box she grabs him and it takes Sock and Ben a few minutes to notice. They finally come to Sam’s rescue and come up with a plan. They go to see Tony in his cabin the woods, and notice demons driving away. They greet Tony who is concerned that the Devil may have followed them. Once he’s sure they’re safe, they ask Tony for a favor. They bring Andi in and have Tony transform into his demonic body. Andi runs outside and takes the car, since Sock left the keys in it.
Tony drops the guys off at the Work Bench, but tells Sam that if he truly loves Andi, he needs to pursue her no matter what. Andi doesn’t show up the next day and Sam remembers Jack’s calendar, and the guys go to the hospital.
Jack is at the hospital as his newest woman goes into labor. The guys split up and prepare to go inside, but the Devil arrives to know what Sam is doing about Andi. The Devil reveals he’s locked Andi in the trunk and gives him one last change to get it right. She promises not to tell anyone, but refuses to be with Sam anymore: she’s scared of him. Sam says he loves her and she hesitates… then keeps on walking away.
Ben searches for the maternity ward and runs into a nurse, Cassidy, who is reading a Sue Grafton novel: one of the items on his perfect woman list. Sam and Sock spot Jack and try to corner him, but he cuts off a hand and throws it up into the ceiling. Sock chases after it and grabs Ben. Meanwhile Jack regrows his missing hand and comes after Sam, disarming him. Jack prepares to kill Sam with the scythe but Andi walks in, punches Jack, grabs the scythe, and stabs him when he comes at her.
Sock and Ben have corner the hand, but it’s regrown into a full Jack body and lands on Sock. Jack is able to run away but stops by a mirror, giving Sam enough time to nail him. However, Andi has slipped away.
Later at the bar, Sara arrives with a ring for Ben, and Ben tells her he’s found his perfect woman. However, Sara forbids him from dating with Cassidy since it will give away the fact they’re not really married. She warns him that if he reports her to Immigration, she’ll report him and they’ll both go to jail. Ben considers giving Sara back her money but Sock has already spent it on comedy show tickets. Andi shows up and admits that now she understands why he has been acting weird. She wants to know if Sam meant it when he declared his love for her and he says he did.
They all prepare to share a beer, but the Devil teleports Sam to Tony’s cabin the woods. The Devil is calling in his favor: he wants Sam to infiltrate Tony’s organization and report back to him what they’re up to. The Devil disappears as Tony comes outside, sees Sam, and brings him inside to introduce him to some of his fellow revolutionaries.
