Sam is at the Work Bench as a demon prepares to drop a washer on him. Tony and a friend are watching, figuring that if Sam is the spawn of Satan then he’ll use his powers to save himself. Sam stops the washer in mid-air and gets clear, confirming Tony’s suspicions. As the son of Satan, Sam will cause the Apocalypse and destroy humanity.
Later, Sam is fascinated by a stain on the ceiling, and thinks it looks like Steve. Sock and Andi don’t see it, and Sam paints it over. Ben shows up, not too thrilled that no one picked him up from jail. Sam heads home with his laundry and sees his mom and dad arguing in the back. Mrs. Oliver goes off and Sam talks to his dad, who says nothing is wrong. However, Sam notices that he’s standing in a chalk circle and has chalk on his hands. Mr. Oliver passes it off and goes to get a hose to clean it off.
As Sam loads up his laundry, the Devil teleports him to a lottery and Sam asks about is parents. The Devil says they must be telling the truth, but notes that people who make deals with him aren’t big on integrity. He then shows Sam his next assignment: Madame Ozera, a fortune teller who sold her soul for the power to read the future.
Josie confronts Sock after he misses a lunch date, and insists he needs to put more effort into their relationship. When he refuses, she fires him and goes off. Sock figures he’ll be back. Meanwhile, Sam is working the cash register when he sees a white-clad Steve standing next to him on the security monitor, even though he isn’t there in reality. Sam goes back and finds the stain has returned. Tony comes over to see them and ask for help. He gets them into a circular camping tent and explains that the demons are building Soloman’s Cage to trap the Devil. Sam isn’t thrilled to help, but Tony only wants their employee discount, and Sock is more then glad to help. As he helps Tony load up, Sock flirts with a female demon, Marlana. She goes back with him to get supplies and she demands that he kiss her. He gives in and they kiss, and then he passes out. Ben wakes him up and Sock finds himself super-charged with energy, able to pick up and throw a barbeque.
Andi has been checking want ads and figures they can track down fortune tellers. Sam leaves her to it, and admits he saw Steve. Andi figures he must have seen something, and Steve must be trying to tell him something, and he should ask. After she leaves, Sam finds a new vessel waiting for him: a baseball. The Devil teleports him to a baseball field and invites him to play catch. He then asks Sam about the rebellion and Sam lies (badly) that nothing is happening. The Devil crushes his hand until Sam tells the truth, but isn’t concerned since he’s too powerful for Soloman’s cage. He invites Sam out for a beer. Meanwhile, the demons are assembling the cage in a circular pattern in a field. Tony notes that the Cage isn’t for the Devil: it’s for Sam.
Andi has narrowed the field down to four suspects and Sam and Sock decide to go with the hot one. Sam goes to the locker room to change and Steve appears to him. He doesn’t answer Sam’s questions and simply says to “Ask about Cancun” before disappearing. Sock arrives and misses Steve, but insists that they deliver more supplies to the demons. When they get there, Sock approaches Marlana who apologizes for kissing him, and explains she feeds on human life force. Every time she kisses someone, they lose a year of their life. Sock suggests that they hook up once a year on New Year’s. However, since it’s seven months away they’re not too thrilled with the idea of waiting. A few minutes later, Sock is hauling heavy lumber. Meanwhile, Sam talks to Tony about Steve, but Tony doesn’t believe it since he thinks Steve would appear to him if anyone. Sam wonders if Steve might be an angel but Tony doesn’t agree. Sam also admits that the Devil knows their plans but Tony isn’t concerned: they didn’t tell Sam everything because they figured he would share the information.
Sam and Sock go to the fortune teller to test her abilities and Sock is eager to get moving before he loses his buzz. Oreza insists on seeing them one at a time and Sam goes first. She does a Tarot reading and determines that Sam is in conflict with his father and there’s a lie between them. She then turns up the Devil… several times. Realizing who Sam is, she draws the Hanged Man and he’s suspended into the air, strangling. He drops the vessel and Sock notices, and then holds him up to keep him from strangling. However, he can’t lower him so carries him piggyback. Oreza drives away but Sock goes through an alleyway to cut her off. Sam is astonished that Sock can carry him and run. Oreza comes after them but Sam grabs a wire and raises himself up while Sock gets clear then throws the baseball and nails her as she drives away. Once she’s gone, Sam is freed from the spell.
Sock tells Ben what happened and Ben figures he’s taking drugs. He finally has to explain he’s not on drugs but gets a rush from Marlana. Ben wants a taste and Sock tries to set him up with Marlana, but she isn’t happy because she was really interested in Sock.
Sam returns home to confront his father and threatens to go to his mother. His father says there’s nothing they can do about it but Sam wants to know the truth. Mr. Oliver admits there’s something he’s forbidden to tell, and if he does everything will fall apart. Sam prepares to leave but gets a call from Tony to come by the site. Sam arrives and Tony shows him the cage… then shoves him in it. Tony reveals that they know Sam is the son of the Devil. Sam doesn’t believe it but Tony orders the other demons to cover over the cage. Mr. Oliver arrives and tries to talk them out of it, but they knock him over the head and toss him in the cage with Sam. Sam tries to convince Tony that he isn’t evil since Steve is trying to contact him. He mentions Cancun and Tony remembers that they took their first vacation there and Steve considered it Heaven. Steve then appears to Tony in a white light, and Tony realizes he’s now an angel. He reverts to his demonic form and rescues Sam, while Mr. Oliver is buried alive.
Sam returns home and gives the new to his mother, who doesn’t seem particularly upset. When Sam asks if Mr. Oliver was his real father, she says he was. Outside, the Devil appears to Sam and offers his condolences. He gives Sam some time off until he’s ready to come back to work. Sam wants a straight answer but the Devil notes he’s the Prince of Lies and leaves.
Andi tries to console Sam, and Ben and Sock take their friend to the Work Bench parking lot where they’ve created a straw dummy of Mr. Oliver to burn in effigy. Sam explains that the Devil is his dad and he’s doomed to end the world. Sock figures since Sam isn’t good at anything else, Sam will probably screw that up too. Ben figures that if God had Steve appear to get Tony to save Sam, it’s good. However, Sam figures the other demons will come after him. Sock insists on going ahead and lighting the effigy, which is loaded with fireworks.
In the field, Mrs. Oliver digs up her husband… who is still alive.
