Ben brings in the groceries at Sock’s house and the guys check the lottery tickets he bought. Sam ends up winning $1,000 and leaves to cash it, ignoring Ben’s protests that he bought the ticket. However, when Sam comes out of the store with his money, he discovers the Devil waiting for him. The Devil takes the $1,000 as bail money to get “Morgan” out of jail. He explains that Morgan is another of his sons. They go to jail where Morgan is already on a first-name basis with the officers. Morgan knows all about his dad being the Devil and is glad to see him, and even appears glad to meet his half-brother Sam.
Back at the Work Bench, Sam drops in on Andi to tell her what happened. She isn’t thrilled to hear that the Devil has a son, and Sam figures she would be even less happy to hear that the Devil is his father as well. When he goes outside to work with Sock, they spot Ted helping women in the parking lot, despite the fat that Corporate fired him for sexual harassment. Sock convinces a female customer that Ted is a pervert then watches as she clubs him when he tries to carry her purchase.
Ben is cooking at Sock’s place while Nina and Kristen exchange fashion tips. Kristen leaves and Nina tries some of Ben’s cooking, and admits she’s getting the hang of human food. Ben reads the woman’s magazine they were looking at and tries to get Nina to take the compatibility test. She refuses to talk about their sex together, says it isn’t that important to her, and stuffs her mouth with food so she doesn’t have to talk.
As Sam is unloading goods at the Work Bench, the Devil teleports him to a consignment store. He wants to get Sam’s opinion on a pair of cufflinks he’s buying for Morgan. However, the Devil is forced to admit he’s disappointed with how Morgan has turned out, and would rather have someone with both Morgan’s and Sam’s qualities so that he would have someone to rule with him in Hell. The Devil reluctantly concedes that Sam is stubborn and has poor fashion sense, but at least he gets the job done, while Morgan never tries at anything. Before he can go further, Sam spots the corpse of the store owner. The Devil explains that his assignment is Edmund Fitzgerald, a shipping magnate who was so greedy in life that he swallowed all of his gold to keep anyone from getting it after he died. Now that he’s back, he plans to collect everything that he owned in life, and will kill anyone who gets in his way. The store owner had Fitzgerald’s ring on sale, and Fitzgerald killed him. As Sam examines the corpse, a gold bug crawls out of its ear.
At the Work Bench, Sock calls Ted over to help him, and then gets an idea. Sock promises him half the tip if he’ll do Sock’s job. Once Ted agrees, Sock goes to Andi and asks for as much work as she can schedule him for. Andy is worried that something’s wrong.
Ben and Nina are drinking at a bar when she spots an old (demon) boyfriend and hides her face. Ben wants to know who he was, and Nina admit it was a physical relationship. Ben points out she said earlier she didn’t think much of sex, but Nina stuffs her mouth with food again.
Sam goes into Sock’s bathroom and finds the Devil waiting for him. He admits that he’s disappointed with Morgan, who has been arrested again. He gives Sam the new vessel for Fitzgerald: a letter opener. The Devil then explains that Fitzgerald is going after a portrait of himself and it’d be better for everyone concerned if Sam got it first so Fitzgerald doesn’t kill any more innocents. However, first he wants Sam to do something for him.
The guys head over to the art gallery and Sam explains that he has to provide Morgan with some on-the-job training. Morgan realizes they don’t really have a plan and grabs something heavy and throws it through the art gallery window, then tells them to run before the cops arrive. Morgan leaves them to it and departs in his hot sports car, heading for a party. Ben and Sock are impressed with him.
The next day at the Work Bench, Andi checks on Sock, who assures her he’ll do everything he promised. Once she’s gone, he brings out Ted and tells him to go to work. Sock reminds Ted that he works for Sock now, and Ted is glad to have the work.
Ben visits the DMV to ask Gladys for help dealing with Nina’s sexual problems. She admits that humans and demons can have sex successfully, and offers to teach Ben a few lessons. He quickly turns down her invitation and she says it’s probably because Nina doesn’t find him attractive.
The guys have the painting at Sock’s house and don’t know what to do next. Sock and Ben have become fervent Morgan supporters and suggests they ask him. Sam doesn’t want to hear it. They’re unaware that Fitzgerald is outside. He coughs up some gold coins, which transforms into metal bugs. He sends them into the house to attack the guys. Sock spots one in Ben’s hair and hits it with a frying pan. The guys start pounding on each other, and then hide in the shower. They hear someone come in and yank away the curtain… it’s Kristen, who wonders what they’re doing. Sock explains they were playing hide-and-seek and she won, and gives her a not-quite-brotherly celebratory hug. Sam and Ben discover that Fitzgerald has left with his portrait.
Sam and Ben tell Andi what happened the next day at the Work bench. She thinks they should try and figure out where Fitzgerald is stashing all of his recovered items. Andi then spots Ted working in the store and chases after him. She finally catches up to him when he hides on a shelf and asks what he’s doing. He considers her a traitor for getting his old job, and tells her to talk to his boss, Sock. Andi goes after Sock who explains that he’s cut a deal with Ted, and that Ted has built his entire life around the store and needs to work there. Andi refuses to take half of what Ted is paying in tips, but Sam and Ben interrupt to get Sock to come with them to an abandoned shipping yard that Fitzgerald used to work at.
The guys go to the shipping yard and find Morgan waiting for them. He admits that his dad told them where to find him, and wonders why Sam has such trouble getting the Devil to do stuff for him. They guys search the containers and finds Fitzgerald’s, which contains all of his belongings including the painting and the ring. Morgan secretly pockets the ring while Sam and the others find a ledger with al of Fitzgerald’s belongings crossed off except one: the name “Mary Ann.” They also find a wedding photo of Fitzgerald with his wife, Mary Ann, and figure she’s his next target. They leave, unaware that two of the gold bugs are watching them.
Andi complains to Sam about Ted and doesn’t want to fire him out of pity. Morgan arrives and Sam tells Andi who he is. Andi is equally awestruck by Morgan’s charisma and good looks, and Morgan congratulates her and flatters Sam. He explains that he convinced Dad to give him Mary Ann’s address and Sam takes off with him.
Ben goes to Nina’s lair and makes an impassioned speech about how he wants her to be happy, and figures she can’t be happy with him during sex because she’s disgusted by her human looks. Nina comes out and Ben says he’s willing to have sex with her as she really is. She takes on her demon form and asks if that’s what he really wants, and Ben says it is… as long as she’s very very careful. Nina simply flies off.
Sam and Morgan visit Mary Ann and try to warn her. She explains that her husband never loved her and was only interested in what he collected. When they explain that they saw her name, she explains that his ship was the
Mary Ann and it sunk over 50 years ago. As they get up to leave, Mary Ann notices that Morgan is wearing her dead husband’s ring. Outside, Sam accuses Morgan of stealing and being selfish, and Morgan cheerfully admits that he is and that he doesn’t think of anyone but himself. He also admits that he plans to use Sam to get in good with their father. As Sam starts the car, he hears a chittering noise and finds one of Fitzgerald’s gold bugs in the car. Fitzgerald appears in front of the car and Sam tells Morgan to run for it. Sam goes in the opposite direction but Fitzgerald goes after Morgan who has his ring. He corners Morgan at a nearby pool and Sam comes back to safe his half-brother. He tells Morgan to remove the ring but Morgan can’t get it off. Sam throws the letter opener at Fitzgerald but misses and hits the door of a shack. As the swarm of gold bugs closes in, Sam tells Morgan to jump in the pool. He does and the bugs won’t enter the water. Morgan finally gets the ring off and throws it to Sam. Sam offers it to Fitzgerald, who opens his mouth open as wide as possible. Sam puts the ring inside… and then shoves Fitzgerald onto the embedded letter opener, capturing him and making the gold bugs turn back into coins, which Sam collects.
Nina visits Ben at the Work bench and says she can’t avoid the truth any longer. She explains that she used to be an angel before she Fell. She and many other angels mated with humans and had children. When God discovered what they had done, he banished the offending angels from Heaven and killed all of their spouses and offspring. She admits she doesn’t want to get close to any human from now on, but Ben assures her that he wants to be with her and isn’t going anywhere.
Andi calls Ted and Sock into her office and tells Ted that things are going to change. She’s not going to fire him, but she can hire him back as a trainee. Neither Ted nor Sock are thrilled, but Sock is even less thrilled when Andi tells him that he’ll be Ted’s trainer.
Sam goes to the DMV with Morgan and gives Gladys the vessel. He wonders what to do with the coins and Gladys tells him it isn’t her business. Sam quickly grabs the bag of coins and heads outside, but the Devil is waiting for him. He takes the coins and congratulates Morgan on a job well done. He then tells Morgan that he’ll be going to the Devil’s exclusive Caribbean resort as a reward. A satisfied Morgan drives off and Sam complains about the Devil’s favorable treatment. The Devil admits he’s always going to like Morgan better, but begins to wonder if Sam isn’t a better choice as his heir. Sam tells him he doesn’t want the job.
Back at the Work Bench, Andi tells Sam he needs to deliver a freezer to his mom. Sam doesn’t know why she needs a new freezer. He arrives at the house and finds a note telling him to leave it in the garage. He goes in and finds the garage has been refurnished with tables, chairs, and a bed. Someone emerges from the shadows and tells Sam not to be scared. The “someone” is Sam’s dead father, looking a bit the worse for wear.
