Searching for a new head for their friend, the 'Dwarfers go undercover as Gelfs to trade with a human-hating Simulant. Tricking the crew and raiding their ship, the Simulant assigns Able, an android from the same line as Kryten, with the task of cleaning him up. Kryten and Able bond, but Kryten soon becomes disgusted with Able's heavy drinking and bozo attitude, and his outlook on life is further tainted when the truth is revealed about his line's creation...

The Canaries soon reprogram him, turning him into a sleazy entertainer who produces amoral videos for the prison's enjoyment, ranging from x-rated footage of the women's showers, to devious practical jokes on high-ranking crew members, which puts Lister and Rimmer's impending retrial appeal in jeopardy....
