Tommy's a firefighter with more problems than he would care to admit.

Mike, mostly know to the rest of his Truck as Probie, is new to the house and is have questions about his role on the truck and his sexuality.

Jimmy, Tommy's cousin, died on Sept. 11th, 2001 when the World Trade Center came down. Tommy now converses with him. Whether he's real or a figment of Tommy's imagination is unknown.

Jerry is the leader of this rag-tag group. He's firm, but fair and is always there for them. Jerry's wife has Alzheimer's and he has been forced to put her in an assisted living facility. It's been very hard on him.

Sean is an experience firefighter, but not all that bright. Sean is now the brother-in-law of tommy now that he is married to his Tommy's sister, Maggie.

Janet is Tommy's ex-wife and mother to his children. Their relationship has had it's ups and downs, mostly downs. Janet was seeing Tommy's brother, Johnny, until he passed away.

Lou is recently divorced and trying to get his life back together. Unfortunately, he got mixed up with the wrong woman and she conned him out of his life savings. Now back on his feet again, Lou is staying with Tommy in hopes of bettering his and Tommy's outlook on life.

Franco is the ladies man of the house, which, unfortunately gets him in trouble from time to time. He has a young daughter, Keela, and tries to do the best he can to give her everything she needs or wants.

Sheila is the widow of Jimmy. She misses not having someone close and wants to start a life with Tommy. Unfortunately the taboo about her being his cousin's widow has caused the family to look unkindly at it. Tommy isn't sure if it's what he wants or if there still is a future with Janet.

Johnny, a cop, has always had a rough relationship with his brother, Tommy. Though it seems civil, there is always some animosity lying under the surface, especially after Tommy found out he was seeing his ex-wife, Janet. Just when there were going to put that past them, Johnny was gunned down while on a stakeout.

Laura was the only woman in the firehouse and was met with much resentment. She's tough and battled through all the bullshit that tossed her way. She had a relationship with Franco, but when that went south, she didn't want to deal with it and transferred to another house.
