Episode Quotes

Tommy: No, I mean, like, we're real Irish, not like fake your generation faggity Irish.

Tommy: They don't get a very sophisticated clientele around this joint. (A woman behind him looks.) Sorry, no offense.
Gruff Woman: Up your ass.

Nell Turbody: If you're gonna fill in for your nephew, you gotta raise your game. Damian can go 3,4 times in an hour. You keep up the pace or not?
Tommy: Well, I,... I might need a sandwich.

(When told about Tommy thinking of putting his father in a retirement home.)
Uncle Teddy: You listen to me, kid. Don't you ever mention that again. Don't you ever even think of that again. 'Cause if you do, you won't have to worry about the mothers of drunk driving getting me out. I'll shoot through these walls and I'll kill you myself. You got that?

Franco: What you been up to?
Tommy: I got myself into a bad situation, pussy wise.
Franco: Is there such a thing?

Janet: So, why don't you go and pray for a more normal family, if you think that will help.
Colleen: The Lord can only do so much.

(After making Sean sweat about his secret relationship with Maggie.)
Franco: Jesus, Tommy, this is more fun then you said it would be.
Tommy: Told ya.
Franco: Kid's dying inside.

Cultural References

Chief: Franco, take the Probie and grab a couple of shovels and start scraping Secretariat off the street.

Secretariat is widely renowned as the greatest race horse of all time. Secretariat was the Triple Crown winner in 1973. In doing so, it broke the track records at the Kentucky Derby for 1 1/4 mile and The Preakness for 1 3/16 mile. Secretariat also broke the world record for 1 1/2 mile at the Belmont Stakes, a record still held today.

Franco: Since when are you The Horse Whisperer?

The Horse Whisperer is a 1998 film starring and directed by Robert Redford about a horse trainer who whispers into the ears of horses to train them and how he helps an injured young girl and her horse.

Episode References

Tommy: We're brothers. That's what we're suppose to do.
Lou: Yeah, and you know what? I've seen how you treat your brothers.

The is a reference to the previous episode, Discovery, where Tommy found out about Janet and Johnny's relationship and Tommy exploded and brutally beat up his brother.
