Even if he goes crazy, I will still call Chris "Superman"

Don't know if this is considered "off-topic", but I read an article in today's local newspaper (carried over from the LA Times) that poses the question, "Does FX push the limits too far with its shows?"

It specifically cites "Rescue Me" as an example, using themes of forced sex, drugs, etc. The makers of those shows (Rescue Me, Nip/Tuck, etc.) specifically courted cable to broadcast them, because they wanted to be free of Network restrictions.

Anyway, I haven't yet watched my first epi of Rescue Me (starting today on DVD) but I didn't realize the show was so controversial. I enjoyed Denis Leary's "The Job", and am still bitter about its cancellation a couple years ago. I wish IT had found a home on FX, or any other network. If Rescue Me is half as brilliant, the dark themes would only enhance, not hurt, the show.

there really is no off-topic in my forums, all thoughts are welcome (for the most part).

it is darker than The Job. it's more than just comedy. it's more than just drama for that matter. this show would never be seen on network television at all. it's dark and deals with harsh realities, some would think to a fault, but not me.
