The scene opens with a man getting into his car. There is a man in the back seat and he kills the man in the front seat. The murderer walks away. Rizzoli and Barry arrive on scene and they are still waiting on a warrant to be able to search the car. Korsak and Maura also arrive and Barry tells that the tow truck will probably arrive before the warrant does. A man in his car honks to make them move the car and Korsak asks if he wants to be arrested and spend his holiday in jail. The tow truck guy arrives and tells that he is going into overtime in 20 minutes. Rizzoli tells to have the car in the car lot in 10 minutes. Later at the station, they examine the body in the car and they realize that there are no fingerprints on the vehicle at all. Maura recognizes that his fingerprints have been burned off with acid and that they won’t get a DNA that way. Korsak finds ID cards and Passports in the trunk of the car and also a book of drawings that Maura tells is drawn from an intelligent man because of all the geometrical shapes in it. They need to find out who this man was.

In the examination room, Maura points the cause of death as the ice pick in the head that killed him. Rizzoli asks if the dental records came up with anything and she tells that they didn’t. Maura gets a phone call and she tells the other person on the line that it is impossible. She tells Rizzoli that the lab is saying that the sample is contaminated. Rizzoli tells that everyone makes mistakes, but Maura is certain that she didn’t. She pulls up the victim’s DNA and her DNA and finds out that they are a match, the victim is her brother. Rizzoli and Maura visit the park and she tells that she had a half brother that was a thief and that she never saw him before and they had the same Father but not the same Mother. She starts to fidget and she gets mad at herself and says that she never fidgets. At a bar, Franke and Frank Sr. are having drink and Frank tells that work is slim. Franke introduces the bartender to Frank and after finding out that Frank is a plumber, he asks if he could fix some pipes in his bar for $3,000. Frank agrees and enlists Franke to help.
Back in the examination room Maura is looking at her dead half brother on the table. She is very emotional and doesn’t know why. Rizzoli enters and gives the drawings to Maura and says that they already made copies. Maura notices something familiar about the drawings and recognizes it as State Street in the financial district. Barry and Rizzoli go to the building and realize that the victim must have been living in a building that is in probate. They enter and see that there is a security camera at the door. They kick it open and find that there is a lab of crime going on in there and find a kid under a desk. Barry finds a device that he recognizes. At the office, the kid is Drew Beckett, a hacker that was arrested for hacking the Department of Defense. Barry tells that the software that it doesn’t steal identities, but also to reveal them. Drew used it to reveal the identity of the victim. They look at the information stored on the hard drive and find that the victim’s name was Colin Doyle, son to Irish mobster head Patty Doyle. Barry tells that Drew had $250,000 deposited into his account.
Patty Doyle, who called himself Mr. Selsi, visits to confirm his son. Meanwhile, Rizzoli and Barry tell Drew that he is going to serve life in prison for what he did. He doesn’t care and tells that he’ll take his chances in prison. Doyle and Maura are in the examination room and he tells that it is his son and asks how he died. Maura tells that he died of a cerebral hemorrhage from an ice pick. She asks what Colin was like and he tells that he was too much like him. She asks if Doyle wants some water and he tells that he will make it easy. He pulls out a switch blade and gives his blood and says goodbye, calling her by her first name. At Rizzoli’s apartment, she tells that she knows that Doyle is her father and that he is a killer. Rizzoli tries to defend him but stops. She tells that all the people Doyle killed were bad guys. She starts to worry about her likelihood of being a killer too and tells that Maura’s life is in danger and they need help.

At the station, Barry, Korsak, Rizzoli, and Maura are in a room going through old files and Korsak tells that Doyle had a lot of enemies and in particular, Mickey O’Donnell, Donegal Family, Danny “Boy” Flanagan, and Tommy O’Rourke are at top of the list of enemies. Maura tells that she is going to go over the body again and see if she finds anything. Rizzoli tries to follow her but Korsak tells that she needs to be left alone and allowed to go back to work. Rizzoli tells that she is going to look over the car. In the garage, Rizzoli and Korsak get in the car and find Road Assistance in his car and they call it. The operator tells that they need a court order to get the records. They have to get one without alerting the office. Barry goes up to Rizzoli and Korsak and tells that someone hacked into the medical records of Colin and found that Maura is the daughter of Doyle. Rizzoli tries to call Maura and runs over there. Meanwhile, Maura is in the examination room and hears a truck backing up. She opens the back door and walks outside. She is grabbed. Rizzoli runs in the examination room and find out that they are too late. Maura is gone.
The van that took Maura pulls into a parking garage and the door opens. It is Doyle. He tells that he is sorry, but he only wanted to protect her. She is furious and tells that he loved his son and not her. He tells that he had to give her up for adoption and that his son was raised by his mother, who told who he was on her death bed. He says that Colin found him and now paid the price for it. He shows Maura that he kept tabs on her and shows several pictures from her life. He tells that he wants to protect her. Maura tells that she is protected and Doyle gives her a phone and tells for her to call him once they know who the killer is so he can send a message. Back at the station, Rizzoli and the rest are going crazy not knowing and suddenly the phone rings. Rizzoli tells that they will pay whatever they want, but it is Maura. Rizzoli tells her to meet her at her apartment.
Rizzoli and Maura meet at Rizzoli’s apartment and she tells that maybe allowing Doyle to take care of things will be best. Maura tells that she doesn’t want to because she is not a criminal. Maura tells that Doyle showed sincerity with her and that he had pictures of her. Rizzoli reiterates that they allow Doyle to take it and she tells her no. Frank Sr. and Franke are at the bar and Franke is not happy to be there because he is going to miss the Celtics game. Frank tells him to re-sadder the cufflinks and they start to argue about the whole incident and suddenly the water valve main breaks and they run around to stop it. At the apartment, Rizzoli tells that Maura is not like her step-brother and Father. There is a knock on the door. Rizzoli reaches for her gun and Franke tells that it is him. He comes in soaked and tells that he needs her help. Rizzoli tells that it is not the night for drama of the Rizzoli Family. Maura tells that she would love it and tells that she knows how to do it. They all go to the bar and help Frank and Maura asks if she could sadder it. She tells that she uses it to seal Toro. Frank is confused and Franke says that Toro is her pit bull and then Rizzoli tells that it is a type of Sushi. Frank tells that this is serious and Franke and Rizzoli bring up some family experience and they laugh. Rizzoli gets a call and find that they are going to find out who killed Colin.

They are listening to the recording and they find a match. Thomas O’Rourke. Rizzoli and Maura are in the examination room and Rizzoli tells Maura to call Doyle to handle things. She tells her no and Rizzoli tells that she will take it to the crime lab and see if they can track something. The next morning they go to the garage where Doyle took Maura and find Thomas O’Rourke with an ice pick in his chest with a picture. Maura takes the picture off and it is her as a baby being held by Doyle. The message is clear, don’t mess with my family. Back at the bar, they test the water pressure and there is a little noise and then it stops and the water flows nicely. Rizzoli, Franke, Maura, and Frank Sr. celebrate their victory together.
