You want to see roman politics in action, the life people lived in the period. I love this show, cant wait for season two. HBO pull out all the stops for this series. Chemistry of the characters on the show, the back stabbing, the fighting, the political parties. This show is awesome

Season one was really good, very trustworthy show. It's a nice mix of fancy scenery, great drama and lots of sex & violence.

If the historical facts are good or not, I can't say, but I guess it's good that I'm not a history student or something like that. Most shows that are based on "true events" often aren't so true I would guess. In Rome I think Ceasar is portrait as a firm but just leader. I'm so amazed over his truly compassionate and almost naive attitude toward Brutus and the others who fight against him. He always chooses the nice way.

The two soliderboys, Titus and Lucius, are awesome too. Really great how they become good friends despite being so diffrent. And they encounter all sorts of crazy adeventures.

History you can get intoRating: 3 likes, 4 dislikes
This show is amazing, and I don't say that often. Everything, from the writing, the direction, the sets and the costumes, and most especially the acting is phenomenal. This show is absolutely amazing to watch.

Colorful, with every detail fine tuned, the show draws you in and makes you believe. The attention to detail will blow you away. The characters are real, flawed, and can be capable of amazing kindness or murderous cruelty. Take for instance the two matrons who spend the series trying to destroy each other, or the soldier turned citizen just trying to cope with the end of the war. Some characters you love others you want to see destroyed.

Historically, it is amazingly accurate. It brings those musty old history books to life in a way you can't possibly image until you watch the series. The ancient Roman empire is made real from the crowded, filthy streets, to the decadent upper class villas, this is how Rome really was. Vulgar, sexual, decadent, immoral, religious, accomplished, bloody Rome, here it is in all it's 'glory'. It's an incredible experience. This is historical fiction at it's absolute finest.

I will say this... this show is absolutely not for children and it is not for the feint of heart. It is shocking at times, but not in a way that is forced for ratings or to keep you watching. This is literally the way it was, it will disgust you, it will anger you, it will fascinate you, but above all it will entertain you.

Rome it great but historically complete WRONG.Rating: 2 likes, 0 dislikes
Don't get me wrong , rome has a good script, excellent actors and actresses but if you studied history at a reputable university and have actually talked to the history professors ALL of them have agreed that this show is horrible historically.
ITS JUST HOLLYWOOD SPECULATION!! 99.9999% is fake. Is it a bad show No not at all but if you want the real Rome and it's history go follow a history course at university.
