Fools Russian - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Hank and Boris arrive in Manhattan where Hank is supposed to treat Dmitry Vasilyev. Boris has arranged for a translator to be present, Christina DuMond. However Dmitry is delayed so Hank must wait.

Evan is playing his video game while Paige is busy with HankMed paperwork. Paige learns that Evan has a meeting with Brady Wilkerson, a very rich and powerful businessman, and she wants to accompany him. He is initially reluctant until he finds out Paige and Brady were childhood friends.

Divya waits in the hospital for her father's condition to improve. She gets a text and rushes to his room to find that he has awakened from his coma. Her initial delight is crushed when his first words are to tell her to go away.

Eva, Paige and Dr. Sacani visit Brady at his estate to give him an examination as arranged by Brady's business manager. HankMed was told Brady was suffering migraines but Brady is unconcerned and thinks his business manager is just concerned with his newest business venture, arranging tourist trips into outer space. Evan and Brady instantly bond as Star Trek geeks and Brady offers Evan and Paige a trip into outer space for their wedding.

In Manhattan, Boris has Hank draw a blood sample for his quarterly medical testing when Dmitry arrives unannounced. Dmitry is reluctant to attend Boris' Shadow Pond summit meeting. As Boris tries to convince him, he feels light headed and Hank has him lie down. Boris confesses his genetic illness to Dmitry and uses it in an attempt to illicit Dmitry's attendance at his summit.

Divya tells her father Devesh that the doctors will allow him to leave the hospital if she attends him on a 24 hour basis because they are concerned about possible seizures. Devesh ignores her and buzzes for a nurse and declares he is leaving the hospital.

Boris and Hank walk in the park where Hank comments on Boris' remarkable recovery. Boris confesses to faking his recent sickness in order to showcase Hank's medical skills. Boris is concerned about Dmitry's medical condition and is relying on Dmitry to work out a business deal regarding crude oil, but only if Dmitry is his old healthy self. Dmitry is reluctant to seek medical help to avoid showing weakness to his political and business competition.

Jeremiah finishes his examination of Brady and finds nothing amiss. Brady is pleased and shows the group one of his toys, a multi-axis trainer. Evan is ecstatic and volunteers to try it and shouts with glee as Brady rotates him over and over in multiple directions. As Evan tries to get out, the trainer lurches ans strikes Brady, knocking him to the ground, bleeding under his chin. Evan, Paige and Jeremiah look in wonder at Brady's blood, which is not red but green.

Christina and Hank talk outside where she confides her concern about Boris' condition. As Hank stalls, not being able to talk about his patient, Dmitry interrupts and asks to speak with Hank.

Brady confesses he has been taking medication to prevent his migraines from returning so he can go back into space. Jeremiah, in his socially inept way, tells him he can't go back into space. As they walk away, Evan tells Jeremiah he needs to find a way to soften the blow to his patients and not crush their hopes and dreams.

Hank examines Dmitry who wants Hank to prescribe stronger erectile dysfunction pills because he has a female friend coming to visit him and he does not want to disappoint her. Hank explains that for some men, the pills do not work the first time, especially men with diabetes, like Dmitry. Hank's exam also reveals an enlarged liver, but Dmitry refuses to allow any blood to be drawn and sent to a laboratory out of his control.

Devesh is back home and Divya is caring for him. She wanders out onto the balcony which overlooks the pool where she found him a few days earlier. She notices a chair lying askew against the railing.

Hank, Boris, Christina and Dmitry play poker that evening and everyone is in good spirits. Dmitry begs off early when he is notified his woman friend has arrived. Later that night, Hank and Boris are roused by a woman screaming and when they arrive at Dmitry's room, they find him unconscious in bed.

Hank quickly diagnoses hypoglycemic shock and administers the proper medications intravenously to arouse him, but his heart is racing abnormally and Hank uses an unconventional method to restore it. When Dmitry is stable, Hank tells him he needs to analyze his blood and offers to have a laboratory come to them instead.

Divya stays with her father and responds to a late night call from his room. Devesh is improving and his appetite is returning and Divya takes the opportunity to apologize to him for her outburst a few days earlier. She hints that she might have driven him to try to take his life and he seems confused by her statement initially, but then concedes his attempt failed.

Hank and Christina are relaxing with a drink after the drama with Dmitry. She comes on to Hank but he is reluctant due to his responsibility to Boris and Dmitry and declares he would like to get to know her better first.

The next day the portable laboratory arrives but Dmitry is leaving. Hank stops him and convinces him that he may have hemochromatosis, a blood disease that is causing his other problems. Dmitry agrees to the testing.

Evan is disconsolate when he gets an e-mail from Brady declining to renew his contract with HankMed. Evan blames Jeremiah's bluntness from earlier but Paige thinks Evan was the problem when he refused to negotiate cost with Brady. Evan is amazed since Brady is so rich but Paige insists that is his way and HankMed can still sign Brady if Evan negotiates in good faith.

Divya and Devesh are on better terms. He wants to go outside to see his roses and she opens the balcony doors and steps out. As she straightens the chair, she notices a can of bee spray and spies a bees' nest on the side of the house. She realizes Devesh didn't attempt suicide but merely fell while spraying the bees. He admits letting her believe he attempted suicide because he was afraid she wouldn't stay with him otherwise.

Hank draws a pint of blood from Dmitry to reduce the amount of iron in his hemoglobin. He advises Dmitry the process will need to be repeated weekly. Boris offers to setup a secure lab at his estate and Dmitry finds this very convenient to Boris' purposes.

Evan and Paige go to see Brady only to find Jeremiah already there. Jeremiah has suggested an alternative to Brady to control his migraines and Brady seems pleased with the suggestion.

Hank, Boris and Dmitry head for the helicopter and the return trip to Shadow Pond. Hank is surprised when Christina shows up, but Boris tells him there is more translating work for her to do. She comments privately to Hank that now he will get the chance to know her better.
