The episode did not air in New Hampshire, Iowa, and three other states that had hosted the Presidential primaries for the 2004 election due to fear of breaking equal-time laws. Instead, NBC affiliates from these states aired either three thirty-minute informercials or the 1999 SNL clip show special, "The Best of Steve Martin". This episode finally aired in New Hampshire, Iowa, and the three other states on July 31, 2004.
In the monologue, the young Al Sharpton (Tracy Morgan) tells the real Al Sharpton that he's on "a racist show, entertaining people in Iowa". Since Al Sharpton at the time was one of the candidates for the 2004 Presidential election and Iowa was one of the states to host the primaries, Iowa did NOT air this episode for fear of breaking equal-time laws.
