Sketches: "The Sabotage of Baldwin" (film), "Teddy Bear Holding a Heart," "Oprah," "Don't Buy Stuff You Cannot Afford," "Hamas," "Close Talkers" (film), "Quick Zoom Theater," "Super Bowl XL Rehearsals," "Backstage: Steve, Alec and Lorne," "The Prince Show," "State of the Galaxy 2145," "The Tangent" (film), "Surfer Club," and "Naturally Crafting."

Performances: Prince performs "Fury (A Woman Scorned)" and "Beautiful Loved, and Blessed" with Tamar.

Steve Martin's first time hosting in 11 1/2 years.

Even though he did make a cameo appearance during SNL's 15th Anniversary special, this is Prince's first time on a regular SNL episode since the Charlene Tilton episode from season 6 (making it 25 years since he last appeared on a regular episode of SNL).

With this episode, Paula Pell (one of SNL's writers) returns to the show after her sitcom pilot "Thick & Thin" (which featured Chris Parnell) failed to get picked up and made into a series.

Episode Goofs

Despite having the perfect opportunity when Fred Armisen is in front of the mirror, the real Prince did not make an appearance in the "Prince Show" sketch.
