George quits his job when he is forced to use the regular bathroom, but immediately regrets his decision. Jerry suggests that he return to work and go about the day like nothing happened. When Jerry's plan falls through, George plots revenge on his boss. Meanwhile, Newman tells Kramer he's going to jump off the building and Jerry thinks that the laundry mat owner stole 1500 dollar he had in his laundry bag so he plots his own revenge with the help of Kramer.
Kramer mentions Mr. Papanickolas, a neighbor, saw Newman after Newman's jump. The neighbor's name comes from Pete Papanickolas, a key grip for the series.
In syndicated reruns of this episode, Wayne Knight supplies the voice for Newman (who is not seen in this episode). During the original airing of this episode, Larry David voiced Newman.
George: I told her [Elaine] what a sexist he is, and how he cheats on his wife.
Jerry: She knew that.
George: But she didn't know he doesn't recycle.
Kramer: Well ... Newman jumped last night.
Jerry: What? Did you talk to him? What did you say?
Kramer: I said "Wave when you pass my window."
Jerry: The best revenge is living well.
George: There's no chance of that.
