Jerry begins to date Miss Rhode Island, and when they need a chaperone to accompany them to the pageant, Kramer volunteers. At the pageant, Kramer tries to help her prepare and becomes her coach in the process. Meanwhile, Elaine tries to get a job at Doubleday, but ends up working for Mr. Pitt instead, and George decides the Yankees should use polyester uniforms instead of cotton.

Danny Tartabull: It's hot in this uniform.
George: Hot? (Feels Tartabull's uniform.) What is this?
Danny Tartabull: What is what?
George: This uniform, what's it made from?
Danny Tartabull: I don't know, cotton?
George: No. This is not cotton. Here, lemme see. (Tries to look at the tag on the uniform, Danny Tartabull resists.) Will you stop it? (Looks at the tag.) Oh. Of course. Polyester!
Danny Tartabull: So?
George: I can't believe you're not playing in cotton.
Danny Tartabull: Well, this is what they give us.
George: You know they used to make leisure suits out of this fabric?
Danny Tartabull: You really think cotton's better?
George: Of course! Alright, maybe I'll say something to Buck.
