Lady Frances Carfax is a charming, emancipated suffragette who wishes nothing more than to live her own life on her own terms despite interference from a domineering brother, the Earl of Rufton and a would-be suitor, Phillip Green.
Watson encounters her while on a holiday in the Lake District, and is somewhat taken with her lively charms. When she vanishes one day from the hotel there he is quick to report to Holmes who is extremely worried about her.
During the subsequent enquiry Holmes uncovers the existence of a con man and trickster at the hotel, and when the lady is discovered some macabre details emerge. | | There are no foreign summaries for this episode: Contribute |
