Clark begins his destiny with Jor-El but realizes he needs to say goodbye to Lois before he can start. Lois returns from the future with amnesia, a mysterious female assassin on her trail, and a new reporter at the Daily Planet to cope with. Chloe tries to restart the Watchtower with Dr. Hamilton's aid and come to grips with a new Clark who has set aside his human feelings. Oliver deals with the aftermath of his team's failure to deal with Doomsday, resulting in Jimmy Olsen's death. And Tess is imprisoned in her manor by a mysterious cadre of soldiers led by a charismatic major named... Zod.

Reporter John Corben is out hunting the Blur when he's hit by a truck. He recovers consciousness to discover that someone has transformed him into a cyborg with a Kryptonite heart. While he seeks revenge against the Blur, Clark turns to Chloe for help, Lois helps the Blur track down Corben, and Tess tries to find the persons who transformed Corben.

After an explosive charge detonates, almost killing the hostages at a Queen Industries factory, Clark discovers that he has the ability to hear people's thoughts. He finds he's been given this ability temporarily to help him connect to people. Meanwhile, the Toyman returns and attempts to seek revenge on Oliver Queen for being framed for the death of Lex Luthor. Oliver, meanwhile, is continuing his own self-destructive patterns and may beat Toyman to the punch.
