<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Rick Flag and one of his Suicide Squad operatives arrive in Smallville via a black surveillance van. The operative confirms that their target is in Smallville.

At the Kent farm, Clark and Lois come downstairs and have a brief breakfast. She invites him outside for sex on the porch swing, and he intercepts her at the door to kiss.

Flag confirms that their target is heading for the Kent farm, closing in on the farmhouse.

As Lois and Clark go outside, they discover that General Sam Lane, Lois' father, has arrived. His younger daughter Lucy is with him.

Later, Clark insists to Lois that her father is jut there to be with her, but Lois isn't convinced. She warns him that none of her other boyfriends have ever survived "The General." Clark assures her that he'll be fine, and Lois warns him that he has to be perfect to pass inspection. She notes that her father hates superheroes.

General Lane is looking over Clark's scrapbook when Lois and Clark come in. He notes that Clark lives in his mother's home and works in a basement, and wonders why Lois writes more articles than Clark. Lois insists that Clark lets her have the byline sometimes, but the General responds by telling Clark that the house has to be brought up to code. He admits that Martha is his opposition in the Senate, and he's the military advisor on the Vigilante Registration Act. When Clark suggests that vigilantes stop crime, the General notes that superheroes destroyed the RAO Tower in Metropolis as an act of terrorism. Lois tries to interrupt, but the General notes that soldiers are the true heroes, and that superheroes will soon take the law into their own hands. When Clark asks Lois for her opinion, she avoids stating her true opinions, and a disappoint Clark walks away.

In Metropolis, an injured Oliver returns to Watchtower and complains when he discovers that Tess has moved in, literally. She tends to his wounds and realizes that he has a subdermal tattoo. Tess recognizes the symbol as belonging to the Suicide Squad, a dirty tricks squad that worked for Checkmate and was presumed destroyed with the organization. The leader was Rick Flag, and Oliver recognizes him as his abductor. Tess figures that Flag is tracking him, and Oliver figures that he's not the only one.

Lois is making dinner while her father watches a newscast about a fire at a Smallville refinery. When Clark comes in from shopping, Lois hints that he should do something about it. He superspeeds away and the General notices that his daughter was left holding the bags. Lois claims that Clark went upstairs. On the news, the report announces that the fire is out. When Clark returns with the cranberries, the General notes that Lois said he went upstairs. They try to cover, and Clark gets a text from Oliver to meet him. As Clark makes an excuse to get away, the General calls his military contacts for a workup on Clark and find out what he's hiding.

At the barn, Oliver scans Clark and finds the tattoo that Deadshot shot him with, using blue kryptonite. Oliver objects to Tess' involvement, but Clark notes that she informed them about Flag. Lucy enters the barn and Clark tells Oliver to go. She brings him a glass of lemonade and explains that her father likes to test Lois' girlfriends. Lucy warns him that no one has passed, but Clark assures her that he'll pass. She then starts flirting with him, and kisses him just as Lois came in. She's not surprised and hauls Lucy outside, and tells her that she's not going to let her provoke a fight.

Lois hears Clark smashing firewood in the barn and goes to see him. He apologizes, but notes that Lois didn't stand up to her dad. She insists that she wants to get through the holiday without the fight, and asks Clark not to make her choose sides. Lois admits that she has a family to deal with, and hopes that he can respect that.

Lucy goes into town to get some wood, and Rick Flag approaches her, posing as an Army colonel. He claims that the General is in danger from Clark, a vigilante sympathizer. Lucy demands proof and Flag gives her an envelope to deliver to the General, and to say she found it. He also asks Lucy to plant a tracking device disguised as a pen on her father so they can keep an eye on him. Lucy says that Flag can count on her.

At Watchtower that night, Tess intercepts a Suicide Squad transmission targeting a hero for assassination. Oliver complains that Chloe would be faster, and that he's not happy with all the recent changes. He finally admits that he's not comfortable with someone taking Chloe's place, and Tess accepts that... for now.

Clark goes to the barn and finds the General in uniform. He has Clark sit at an interrogation chair, and wants to know why Lois is interested in Clark when she usually dates men of action. The General wonders why Clark's record is so clean, and suspects that Martha is covering for him. When Clark wonders why he has the authority to spy on them, the General insists that he's a war hero. He shows Clark the photos from Lucy, that show Clark with Kara. Clark snaps at him and insists that he loves Lois. In response, the General says it'll be the last day Clark spends with Lois.

Lois is finishing dinner when Clark comes in. She accuses him of not being able to get along with her father, but Clark informs her of the General's accusations. Lucy and the General come downstairs and Lucy says they're going to all stay with Lois at her apartment. As she goes out to the car, she slips the tracking device into her father's pocket. The General orders Lois to come with them, and Lois asks him to stay and work things out. When the General insists that Clark is dishonest and has dangerous friends, Lois apologizes to Clark and then goes with her father.

Flag tracks the General leaving the farm, and knows that Clark can't protect him. He prepares to launch a missile.

At the Talon, Lois tries to get her father to go back and talk to Clark. He refuses, and Lucy comes to her father's defense. Lois accuses her of planting the photos, and the General prepares to call the NSA to find out what Clark's hiding. She tells the General to talk to her if she wants to find out about Clark, and she's staying with him. Lucy gets her father out, unaware that the General has put the tracking device on the counter.

Flag and his operative prepare to launch the missile, locking it on the signal.

Clark arrives at Watchtower, and Tess and Oliver tell them what they've found. Tess figures that Flag would try to recruit Clark before trying to recruit him, and that he considers superheroes as freedom fighters. They realize that Flag is going after the General, and Clark superspeeds to Smallville.

Flag launches the missile.

As the General and Lucy walk away from the Talon, they hear the missile approaching. It smashes into Lois' apartment. Clark arrives in time to get her out ahead of the explosion. The General screams in horror, but then discovers Lois standing behind him. They embrace as the Talon goes up in flames. The General notices the Blur's symbol burned into the wall nearby and realizes who saved his daughter.

Flag realizes that the missile failed, just as Clark smashes through the side of the van and send the men inside flying. Green Arrow and Clark come in, and Flag insists that the politicians will use Green Arrow as a recruitment tool to bring in other superheroes, and then kill them. With American turning against them, they have to fight back and become leaders. When Clark insists that violence isn't the answer, Flag tells him that violence is the only answer. His assistant, a teleporter, then gets them both away before the heroes can stop them.

Later at the farm, Lucy apologizes to Lois, who wonders how she and Clark can trust her. As Lucy goes, Lois admits that she's not happy with what Lois did, but appreciates that she tried to protect their father. Lucy explains that she tries to help their father so he wouldn’t see her as the troublemaker. In response, Lois admits that when Lucy became the troublemaker, she was able to be the good one. They hug.

At Watchtower, Oliver brings Tess some beers and Chinese carryout, and she assures him that she has Emil looking in to removing the tattoos. He warns her that "friend" might be a bit much yet, and they share a drink. Oliver then tells her that he has to avoid Watchtower now that his identity is public knowledge, for fear of compromising its secrecy. Tess realizes that it's a hard decision for him to make, but Oliver is sure that it's the right one. He tells her that Watchtower is in good hands.

Clark is working in the barn when the General comes in to apologize. He admits that he hasn't always been a perfect father, and nobody has had the guts to tell him like Clark did, since his wife passed away. The General tells Clark that he had a hard time coming back from the wars and spending time with his family, and if he had to do it over again, he'd spend more time with his family. He says they can settle down to a homecooked Thanksgiving meal, and says they have the Blur to thank. When Clark wonders if he changed his mind about the bill, the General warns that not every superhero has the Blur's ethics. When Clark warns that politicians could turn against the superheroes, the General insists that ultimately, America will do the right thing. Finally, he notes that putting Lois' boyfriends through hell was his way of testing her... and Clark was the first one she defended. As the General goes, Clark has one more question for him.

The family sits down for Thanksgiving dinner.

Flag reads an article on the passing of the anti-vigilante bill and tells his people that it's an act of war. The teleporter plants a bomb and slips away as the explosion destroys a building.
