Lana decides to enroll at Metropolis University at the last minute and is forced to join a sorority to find housing at such a late date. However, her new sorority sisters offer her more than a place to crash after they turn her into a vampire and instruct her to kill Clark. Meanwhile, Chloe applies for an internship at the Daily Planet, but the newspaper's formidable editor may be more then she can handle.

Buffy Sanders is actually an in-joke to Buffy Summers, the title character from the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, in which James Marster played "Spike".
 
Clips of music videos were featured from the upcoming Metropolis Mix collecton. Including Josh Kelly, and Breaking Benjamin.
 
Carrie Fisher is listed as Special Appearance By. James Marsters is listed as Special Guest Star.
 
At one point, Professor Fine tells Clark that "there's no such thing as vampires." This is an in-joke referring to the fact that James Marsters is best known for playing the vampire Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.
 
John Schneider (Jonathan Kent), Annette O'Toole (Martha Kent), John Glover (Lionel Luthor) and Erica Durance (Lois Lane) do not appear in this episode.

Lex says that vampire bats were found in the cave in Smallville. Vampire bats are not native to North America, they are native to Southern America.
