Recap

Martha's chief of staff, Naomi Van Horn, is at home making supper for her foster daughter Maddie. Maddie, an apparent mute, refuses to come to supper because she's busy drawing and as they struggle over her notebook, a water pitcher on the table shatters for no apparent reason. Naomi realizes that Maddie did it with her mind and goes to call the foster home. Maddie goes up to the room and all of the glass in the kitchen starts to vibrate and then shatter. Naomi looks in horror as the razor-sharp shards fly toward her...

Episode Quotes
Chloe: I know your moral compass has a tendency to veer off course but taking advantage of Lana when she's at her most vulnerable? It's despicable.
Lex: I think your reporter's eye is getting a little cloudy - you're starting to see things that aren't there.
Chloe: I don't have to work for the DWP to know that there was enough electricity in that room to light up the entire state of Kansas.
Lex: It's interesting how perceptive you are about affairs of the heart considering... you've never actually been in a serious relationship.

Chloe: I know you’re used to getting whatever you want without even thinking about the consequences, but I promise you if you hurt my friend there will be a consequence. And you’re looking at her.
Lex: Chloe…I think I’m getting an inkling why you’ve never had a boyfriend.

Maddie Van Horn: Clark, did you ever meet your real dad?
Clark: Sort of.
Maddie Van Horn: Was he bad like mine?
Clark: Maybe worse. But just because he gave me life doesn't mean I'm anything like him. You see, thing is Maddie, anyone can be a father but it takes someone really special to be a dad.

Clark: Did you get a look at the guy?
Lois: Uhh, like I told the sheriff, mid-thirties, sandy blonde hair, uhh, good-looking in that psycho-killer kinda way.

Lana: You must really trust me.
Lex: A hundred percent. Well, I hope you feel the same way about me?
Lana: I do.

Clark: Just because she has this ability doesn't make her a killer.
Lois: Clark, I always knew you were naive but come on, don't let her rosy cheeks and saucer eyes sway you - that girl's one step short of the demon seed!

Lois: Wait, you want me to babysit that little glass-smash-all? Does my life mean nothing to you?
Clark: Look, I don't think she's dangerous. And if you're scared, I can always call Chloe.
Lois: Who said I was scared? I'm not scared.

Chloe: Lana, I understand if you want to hurt Clark.
Lana: What?
Chloe: But just don't hurt yourself in the process. Lex Luthor is nothing more than a predator.
Lana: Well, I don't plan on being anybody's prey.

Clark: (to Maddie Van Horn) Well, in this house, you're a guest and guests always get a double helping of mom's banana pancakes!
Martha: (to Clark) The way you are with her... your dad would be so proud.

Clark: Hey, uh, how's Lana?
Chloe: I was wondering when you were gonna bring up the 'L' word.

Episode Goofs
The automotive glass was not supposed to break into pointy pieces that can pierce skin. This type of glass is designed to split into small bits, to minimize injury in crashes from flying shards.

Why does Naomi walk up to the violently trembling mirror and just stand in front of it waiting for it to explode? You would think after the horrible experience with all the other glass shards she would know better.

Episode References
Maddie asks Clark whether his father, (Jor-El), was "bad like mine?" and Clark replies: "Maybe worse. But just because he gave me life doesn't mean I'm anything like him."

Why does Clark still hate Jor-El? In Arrival, he welcomed him home. In Hidden, he brought him back to life. In Solitude, he learned Zod was the evil one and Jor-El was the intelligent, peaceful man of the people. In Reckoning, granted, Jonathan's life was sacrificed, but he told Clark it was a lesson he needed to learn in order to mature.
