After Martha's life is put in harm's way by a mad tormentor, only Lionel could save her after he is taking hostage by the masked-man. Lionel must win a series of elaborate games in order to survive. Meanwhile Clark confronts Martha about Lionel knowing his true secret, which was told to him by his late father Jonathan in the episode Void. Also Lex confronts Lana about the intimacy that occurred between them.

Clark: Or maybe you'll just show your true colours. Secret or no secret... you stay away from my mother. Or you'll wish I never saved your life.

Lex: Me, neither. (cocks gun and kicks in door)

| Lionel: (to Lex) I have been fending off attacks all my life, since before you were born. I think I can handle one more.
| Masked Tormentor: I want to play another game.
| Masked Tormentor: I bet a pair of those thousand dollar, Italian shoes you favour would really make a difference right about now, wouldn't they? I understand how hard it must be for a man who's not used to breaking a sweat.
Lionel: I grew up in Suicide Slums, sweat's something I'm very familiar with, my friend.
Masked Tormentor: I know all about your underprivileged youth. But that all changed when your parents died in the fire you set. Ohh, did I hit a nerve?
Lionel: I didn't kill my parents.
Masked Tormentor: Tell a lie long enough, you'll believe it to be truth.

Lionel: Clark?

Lionel: I meant that... he's the kind of son a father could be proud of.

When Lionel runs from the limo after the train hits it, the limo is just close to shoulder length. When they cut to a closer shot, the limo is now considerably further back behind Lionel.
| Lionel and Martha should have died during the elevator scene. Since Clark only caught the elevator, the inertia would still have hurt them a lot
| If Lionel's captor lost all his money in the failed Apex takeover, how was he able to construct the elaborate death traps?
