Episode Quotes

Lana: Because this is what I wanna do.
Lex: I'm just trying to protect you.
Lana: What is it with people feeling like they have to protect me? Lex, I don't need to be watched over.
Lex: I didn't say you did. I want you to be safe.
Lana: Well, this isn't about what you want. This is about what I want.

Clark: You're looking awfully healthy.
Oliver Queen: It's called exercise, Clark. Something we mere mortals have to do from time to time.
Clark: According to the Daily Planet, the Green Arrow was shot last night.
Oliver Queen: If I was shot, don't you think I'd be laying in a hospital or a morgue? I'm not bulletproof like you are, Clark. Besides, you of all people should know better than to believe everything you read in the newspaper.

Clark: A witness saw you lying in a pool of blood.
Oliver Queen: Well, maybe it was someone else with a preference for green.

Oliver Queen: Apparently, you were too busy using your powers to bale hay than to realise that there's a crime wave in Metropolis. Let me ask you a question... are you ever gonna get off your ass and finally do something for a change?
Clark: I didn't come here to be insulted.
Oliver Queen: Well, you know what? There's the door, Clark, I don't remember you being invited.
Clark: Oliver, what's going on with you?
Oliver Queen: Clark, I don't need to take advice from someone whose only worry in life is to protect his own identity!
Clark: That's a lie, you know it.
Oliver Queen: Let me tell you something, when I'm out there, when I'm out on the streets, I'm protecting people! Alright? I got much bigger things to worry about like staying alive!

Clark: Lois, I went to talk to him at his apartment.
Lois: You didn't? What were you thinking?
Clark: I was looking out for you...
Lois: I have 20/20 vision, Smallville, I look out for myself.

Clark: Lois, I think you might want to keep your distance.
Lois: He has a substance abuse problem, not leprosy. And I am not going to abandon him when he needs me the most.
Clark: He's not himself right now and based on his behaviour, I don't think he's someone you wanna be around.
Lois: Well, you see that's the difference between you and me, Clark... I don't desert people when they need help.

Clark: Lois, don't worry. I promise I'll do everything I can to track him down.
Lois: Yeah, that'll be a big help. Look, I'll just call Chloe.

Lana: Do you ever wish that you could go back in time and... everything would be different?
Clark: All the time.

Lex: Drop it!
Green Arrow: You first.
Lex: What do you think is faster - an arrow or a bullet?
Green Arrow: There's only one way to find out.

Oliver Queen: Listen to me, you and I both know the world's a better place without Lex Luthor.
Clark: That's not for us to decide, Oliver.

Clark: Who am I dealing with, Jekyll or Hyde?
Oliver Queen: Just plain old Oliver today, Clark.
Clark: You haven't broken any glasses, that's a good sign.

Oliver Queen: This whole time I just wanted to be like Clark Kent, you know, I wanted to, uhh... I wanted to have the ability to bring justice to the world without having to worry about getting killed in the process. And then something occurred to me, I realised that, uhh... Clark Kent would never take another man's life. I came within an inch of doing just that. I'm not even in your league.
Clark: Oliver, you do a lot of good in this world. You don't need to be indestructible to be a hero.
Oliver Queen: Yeah, oh, you're right, you're right, yeah, umm... I should be thankful for who I am, right? And the abilities that I have, I know that.
Clark: Me, too.

Clark: I'm sure Lois is gonna want you there... trust me.
Oliver Queen: Whoa, trust you? What happened to all the lectures abouts guys with secret identities not being able to handle relationships?
Clark: The truth is you and I are different. And Lois isn't Lana. If you two are meant to be together then who am I to stand in the way?

Clark: I would just like to say that I'm most thankful for... my mom and dad... whose faith in me taught me to have faith in myself. Thank you.

Clark: Who am I dealing with, Jekyll or Hyde?

Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is a story written by Robert Louis Stevenson. The work is well known for its portrayal of a split personality.

Oliver Queen: I wanted to have the ability to bring justice to the world without having to worry about getting killed in the process. And then something occurred to me, I realised that, uhh... Oliver brings up 'justice' and the fact that he's not in Clark's 'league' - this refers to the Justice League, of which Superman and Green Arrow are members of in the comic book world. In Smallville, the formation of the Justice League will happen in the near future.
