Hydro - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
At the Daily Planet, new gossip columnist Linda Lake arrives and immediately orders Chloe to make copies for her. Chloe objects and notes that Linda runs iffy stories like the one on baseball player Mike Dawson and his alleged steroid use. Linda claims that she runs the truth and isn’t worried. However, as she leaves, Dawson approaches her and insists she won’t ruin any more lives. He chases her and she runs around the corner of a building into a plaza with a fountain… and disappears. Dawson searches for her and suddenly something in the fountain grabs him and holds his head under until he drowns.

Lana visits Chloe and tells her that Lex proposed to her. She admits that she hasn’t accepted yet and wonders if something is stopping her. She reluctantly admits that it could be Clark, and Chloe tells her she should talk things out with Clark. As they leave, the water in the water cooler bubbles for no reason.

Jimmy receives a mysterious computer message to meet someone in Smallville. It’s Lois, who wants to buy his photos of the infamous Green Arrow Bandit. However, the photos don’t reveal anything useful except a laceration on the Bandit’s arm.

Chloe stops by the Talon to pick up coffee and sees that the Planet[/I] has run a story by Linda Lake on Lex’s new fiancée Lana, and the private conversation where Lana said she has feelings for Clark. Clark arrives and wonders if the story is true, and Chloe admits that Lana said what is in the article. Clark goes to the manor to see Lana.

At the manor, Lex shows Lana the paper and calmly admits he’s glad to know why she’s stalling. Lana receives a call from Chloe but ignores it. Clark arrives and Lex goes to see him. Lex lies and says that Lana isn’t there, and then informs him that Lana will accept his proposal because she’s pregnant with his child. Clark is left shocked and speechless.

In Metropolis, Jimmy talks to Chloe about Dawson’s death. He doubts that Dawson would have killed himself despite the fact his career was in ruins. Chloe decides to investigate.

Linda is moving into a new office when she gets a visitor: Lex Luthor. Impressed with her abilities, he gives her a blank check and tells her to find out everything she can on Clark and Lana.

As Oliver and Lois practice yoga, they start to make out and Lois removes his shirt. She notices that he has the same type of scratch on his arm that the Bandit had in the photo. Oliver, unaware of what she knows, claims he got it in a fencing accident. Lois hastily leaves and then goes to see Clark at the farm. She talks about knowing someone close to her with a hero complex, but Clark soon realizes she’s talking about Oliver. She asks for his help in proving if Oliver is Green Arrow or not and he agrees to help.

Clark secretly goes to Lois’ apartment to get the photos and Chloe comes in. He tells her that Jimmy took photos of Green Arrow and then admits he’s angry that she knew that Lana was pregnant and didn’t tell him. She snaps at him, insisting it’s unfair that he has to keep Clark’s secret but no one else’s. They make up and Clark mentions his alien origins, while in the next room Linda enters the apartment via the bathtub and hears the conversation.

Later, Chloe is returning to the Planet when Lana confronts her about the story. She thinks Chloe published it since she was the only one who knew Lana’s feelings, but Chloe convinces her Linda is responsible. When Chloe wonders how her conversation with Clark went when he went to see her, Lana realizes that Lex kept them apart. Chloe discovers that Linda was caught in the meteor shower and decides she and Lana should found out how she listened in on their conversation.

Lois goes to see Clark at the barn and admits that she isn’t sure if she wants to know if Oliver is Green Arrow. She loves Oliver and is happy with him no matter what. Clark figures that she won’t be able to let it go no matter what and Lois agrees. They settle down to make a plan to find out.

That night, Clark and Lois get Oliver to go with them to a movie. Lois goes to get some ice and then Clark and Oliver set up their plan. Lois runs into an alleyway and calls Oliver, pretending that a robber is attacking her. Jimmy is there, pretending to be a robber. However, “Green Arrow” arrives and defeats the robbers, using super strength. Jimmy takes his picture and Lois kisses the hero, saying his secret is safe with her. She notices something different about the kiss. Oliver arrives and “Green Arrow” leaves at superspeed, and Lois realizes that she kissed someone other than her boyfriend. A short distance away, Clark removes the Green Arrow mask and smiles.

While hacking Linda’s computer in the columnist’s unfinished office, Chloe calls Lana via webcam to keep her updated. Chloe finds Linda’s new story about Clark and the fact he’s an alien. Linda comes in and talks about Clark. As she starts to bring up the fact that Clark is an alien, Chloe smashes the computer and tells Linda that she knows how she’s used her power to murder anyone who gets in her way. Linda grabs a nail gun and tries to kill Chloe, who runs downstairs. Linda turns into water and gets ahead of her, and then attacks Chloe. Lana arrives in her car, slamming into Linda who flies apart into water and drains off into the sewers.

Jimmy shows up later and shows her the photos he took of Lois kissing “Green Arrow.” When Jimmy talks about how the hero disappeared at superspeed, Chloe realizes that Clark was involved. She goes to see Lois at her apartment at the Talon and invites Clark over. Lois talks about how “Green Arrow” could give her boyfriend Oliver kissing lessons and Clark looks embarrassed.

Later at the Planet[/I], Lana meets Chloe and wants to know what Linda was saying about Clark. Chloe insists it was nothing but Lana doesn’t believe her. Lana then goes to see Clark at the loft and asks what he wanted to say to her earlier. Lana says that he’s still a part of her life but Clark insists that everything is different and he knows that she has Lex’s child. As she goes, Clark hopes that she’ll be happy with Lex.

Lana goes back to the manor where Lex admits that he’s afraid of her answer. Lana tells him that she saw Clark and still loves him, but she loves Lex and believes he deserves everything from the person he marries. Lex says he’ll wait forever for whoever that person is. Convinced, Lana agrees to marry him.
