Clark and Chloe arrive at the Talon and are surprised to see it’s hosting a Valentine’s Day party. Clark wants to leave but Chloe suggests he stay and get over Lana. Jimmy arrives with Lois, who is trying to get over Oliver, and it soon becomes clear Jimmy is trying to set her up with Clark. Clark and Lois are appalled at the thought. Lois goes to see a fortuneteller, Star, who is selling novelty Valentine’s Day items. She offers Lois a lipstick that she claims will have her fall in love with the first man she sees, and is made from red meteor rock. Lois puts some on, and then sees Clark in a mirror.
The next morning, Clark is at home as Martha is RSVPing to Lex and Lana’s engagement party. Lois comes in wearing a leather skirt and says she’s over Oliver and in love with Clark. She gives him a White Snake CD mix and a desperate Clark, manages to superspeed away when she turns around for a moment.
Lana visits Chloe and admits they’re relationship is strained because of her questions about Clark. She agrees to quit asking as long as Chloe admits that Clark has a secret. Chloe doesn’t say anything. Lana asks Chloe to be her maid of honor and Chloe accepts. Chloe then goes to the
Daily Planet and discovers that Jimmy has sent her a banquet. Clark arrives and tells her about Lois, but Chloe doesn’t believe it until Lois arrives and shows him the Lois & Clark tattoo she got. Chloe resolves to look into the matter. Lois grabs Clark and drags him into a phone booth, and then kisses him. When the lipstick with the red krytonite touches his lip, he switches to his Kal persona. She remembers kissing him when he was disguised as Green Arrow and figures he’s Green Arrow, but Clark explains he was helping Oliver and offers to show her the “real” Clark Kent.
At the manor, Lana and Lex are preparing for the engagement party and Lex shows her a surprise: the baby room. He suggests they announce her pregnancy at the party but Lana is against it, saying she doesn’t want people to think that’s the reason they’re getting married.
Clark takes Lois up to the roof and demonstrates his abilities by leaping over to Queen Tower, carrying Lois with him. As they start to make out, Clark notices an engagement party invitation and decides to crash the affair.
Chloe is trying to find out more about the lipstick when Jimmy arrives. He accuses her of trying to dodge the engagement party and Chloe denies it. She asks him to check on Star and the lipstick, and Jimmy wonders if she’s jealous of Lois’ newly revealed feelings toward Clark. Chloe denies it but Jimmy is skeptical.
Jimmy manages to locate Star and asks for an antidote. She says she has a green spray that can counter the affects of the lipstick and gives it to him.
Clark and Lois burst into the manor as Lex calls for a toast. He taunts Martha over her relationship with Lionel and then tells Chloe she must be relieved that Lana is getting married so she doesn’t have to worry about the competition over Clark. Finally, Clark tosses down a baby rattle and calls for a toast, saying the couple are only getting married because of the baby. An angry Lex attacks him but Clark shoves him aside and drags Lana away, leaving Lois behind.
Lex goes after them while Martha and Chloe realize that Clark has been exposed to red kryptonite. Jimmy arrives with the antidote and Chloe tries to give it to Lois. She struggles and almost breaks the bottle. Jimmy manages to catch it and dose her with it.
Clark takes Lana to the barn and tells her she should marry him instead. He initially forces a kiss on her but she soon returns the gesture. However, she pulls away and says that he doesn’t love her: he just can’t stand to see her with Lex. Lex arrives and Lana runs into his arms. Clark accuses Lex of accepting Lana as a consolation prize to get what Clark already had. Lex draws a gun but Clark disarms him and smashes him into a wall. He starts to choke his former friend, who grabs a chisel and rams it into Clark’s side. Clark drops the barely conscious Lex as Martha arrives. Martha tells Lana to get Lex medical attention. Once they’re gone, Martha uses a piece of kryptonite to cure him.
The next morning, Clark is remembering all the things he said. He insists he doesn’t believe it but Martha notes that under red kryptonite he simply says what’s really on his mind. Clark wants to stop the wedding but Martha says he needs to leave Lana alone. A confused Lois arrives: she doesn’t remember anything that happened while the lipstick affected her. She wants to know why she has a non-permanent ink tattoo saying Lois & Clark. Clark gives her the White Snake CD back and assures her that he would have remembered if anything had happened between them. Lois isn’t entirely convinced.
At the
Planet, Chloe thanks Jimmy for his help. She casually dismisses Clark’s actions, raising Jimmy’s suspicions about her feelings toward her childhood friend. Jimmy insists that she’d choose Clark over him and says they need to take a break, and then leaves.
Dr. Langston checks Lana and says that she and the baby are doing fine. Lex comments about Lana kissing Clark back, and Lana wonders if he really would have shot Clark. Lex insists he had a right to and admits he can understand Lex’s feelings for her. As he leaves, he talks to Langston, who says the pregnancy is proceeding as planned. In the room, Lana takes the bent chisel out of her dressing table where she’s hidden it and wonders…
