Phantom - Recap

In Baie-Saint Paul, Quebec, a woman is cooking at a cabin in the woods when a mysterious man arrives. The man, John (from Clark’s mental labyrinth), tells her that he’s there to save her father. He goes into the next room where a priest is praying over the father. The father, possessed, smashes his hand into John’s chest and rips out his organs, and then smashes him through the ceiling and up into the sky. The priest get the daughter out of the room but the father, moving at superspeed, intercepts them. He senses someone outside and turns to see Lex and his men waiting for him. Lex tells his men to hold their fire, and then looks on as a wraith-creatures emerges from the father’s chest and flies off into the sky.

Later, Lex returns to the manor and tells his men to find the wraith-creature. Lionel arrives and Lex asks him about the DVD. He figures that Lana stole it from him and gave it to Lionel. Lionel responds by admitting he “nudged” Lana into marrying Lex. Lex tells his father to get out of his life once and for all but Lionel says that it isn’t that easy to get rid of him.

As Martha prepares to depart for Washington, she suggests that Clark should get away from the situation with Lana by leaving Smallville. Clark doesn’t believe running away and leaving the farm is the right thing to do.

At the Talon, Lois is checking the numbers she received from Wes. Chloe warns her it’s dangerous to go up against Lex, and Lois agrees. She rips up the paper, but after Chloe leaves, she pieces them back together and realizes that the numbers represent latitude and longitude.

At Project Ares, Lex and his scientists examine another victim of the wraith-creature. The scientists confirm that it can only stay in a host body up to 24 hours, and then must leave to find another host. Lex tells them they need the alien DNA so he can use it to put the finishing touches on his own super-soldiers.

Lana come to visit Clark and tells him that she’s leaving Lex. She assures him that there’s nothing he can do and she’ll always love him, but she has to go. Clark decides to reveal his powers to her but Lana explains that she already learned his secret. What she doesn’t know is that he is an alien. She assures him that the knowledge doesn’t change her feelings for him and kisses her. However, she still insists she has to stay and Clark concludes that Lionel is threatening him to force Lana to marry Lex.

At LuthorCorp, Lionel is in an elevator calling Martha and emerges to find Clark there. Clark slams him into the wall, angry that he’s using Clark to force Lana into marriage. John arrives and stops Clark, telling him that Lionel is Jor-El’s emissary and conduit.

At the manor, Lex gets words that a new subject is en route. Lana arrives and Lex tells her to wait, but she informs him that she’s leaving. She knows about the fake pregnancy he set her up with, but Lex denies any knowledge of it. As she starts to walk out, Lex accuses her of being influenced by Clark. She admits she has feelings for Clark and he slaps her. Lana tells her that she’s leaving but Lex warns it isn’t that easy.

Lionel explains to Clark that Jor-El transferred his knowledge into his mind. Jor-El also summoned John to Earth, and he’s been working to capture or destroy the Phantom Zone criminals while watching Clark as he underwent his trials over the years. Realizing John is still injured from his encounter with the wraith-creature, Clark suggests they use the crystal. John explains that he’s not a Kryptonian and it won’t work on him. Further, the wraith-creature was a prisoner altered by Kryptonian experiments and needs a Kryptonian host body to permanently dwell in and survive.

Lois determines that the latitude/longitude indicate Reeves Dam outside of Smallville.

Chloe locates one of the wraith-creatures victims. She and Clark learn that Lex was there and Clark tells his friend that Lana now knows all his secrets.

At the dam, a security guard confronts Lois. She attacks him and he manages to stab her in the stomach before she knocks him out. Lois fumbles for her cell phone and calls Chloe.

Lana is in the street and calls Lionel to inform informs him that she’s leaving Smallville. As he heads for her location, he tries to calm her down. Lionel sees her on the street getting into a SUV as a truck drives by. Once it goes past, Lionel heads for the SUV only to see it blow up.

Clark meets Lionel at the manor and tells him that Lex is studying the wraith-creature’s former hosts. Lionel tells Clark about Lana’s death, and Clark figures Lex is responsible. He departs to find him.

Chloe gets Lois’ call and goes to Reeves Dam. She finds her dying cousin and cries. However, when one of her tears strikes Lois’ body, it glows with white energy. Lois gasps in air and comes back to life, the knife wound entirely healed. However, she finds Chloe lying nearby, dead.

At the 33.1 lab, Lex is examining the wraith-creature’s current host. It’s at the limits of the 24 hours it can survive in a non-Kryptonian host. His scientist studies the boy’s blood and tells Lex it’s what they need for the super-soldier program. The possessed boy shatters the security window and slaughters Lex’s personal bodyguard. Lex runs for it, going out through the airlock and sealing the door behind him. The possessed boy kills the scientist trapped inside and then uses his thumbprint to bypass the security scanner and open the door.

Clark goes to the dam with Lionel not far behind. Lex runs outside and Clark grabs him, demanding to know why he killed Lana. Lex has no idea what he’s talking about. The possessed boy arrives and Clark goes after it while Lex runs. The demon emerges from the boy’s body and goes after Clark. He tries to use the crystal against it but nothing happens. It slams into him, knocking him back through a wall and into the dam’s generator room. Clark gets to his feet and discovers the wraith-creature has changed form: it now looks like Clark. When it struck him, it took a piece of his DNA and used it to make a Kryptonian body for itself. It explains that it’s Clark, just a little “bizarre,” then attacks, throwing him into one of the dynamos.

As Lex emerges from the dam, he finds the police waiting for him. They arrest him for Lana’s murder.

Lois uses her body to shield Chloe’s corpse as the dam starts to collapse around them from the titanic struggle.

Lionel climbs through the wreckage and sees Clark… except it’s the wraith-duplicate. The real Clark arrives to warn him. Lionel attacks it with a piece of kryptonite, slamming it into its chest. There’s a blast of energy and the wraith-duplicate thanks Lionel and then knocks him away. It then slams into Clark at superspeed, blasting Clark through the wall and out into the open. The wraith-duplicate flies away, as its duplicate-Clark face turns a stony white…
