<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
As Clark and Lois go to check out the dam, Clark tells her that he doesn’t plan to stay in Smallville once Lana’s funeral is done. Before Lois can pursue the matter, they spot what appears to be some kind of spacecraft. Pieces of kryptonite are scattered around the area and Clark hangs back. Lois goes in closer but a mysterious blonde woman appears at superspeed. She knocks Lois back, crushes her cell phone, and then tells them to stay away. She knocks Clark back and tells him and Lois to leave, then flies up into orbit. As she hovers in space, she takes out a Kryptonian device with the symbol of El… and a picture of a baby.

Chloe is going over her files on the Belle Reve prisoners when Clark and Lois come back. Clark is busy trying to convince Lois that what they saw was some kind of hoax or piece of debris, but Lois isn’t buying it. She changes clothes and heads to the Inquisitor to file a UFO story.

Lex’s lawyer visits him in prison and tells him that a disgruntled former employee was the one responsible for Lana’s murder and Lex is being released now that the real murdered is supposedly in custody. Lex doesn’t believe it and tells the lawyer to set up a meeting.

Clark goes back to the spacecraft’s site but discovers that it has disappeared. Two park rangers were murdered on the scene and the police have sealed the area as a crime scene. Clark determines that both men had their cell phones

Clark returns to the ship but it’s gone and the police have sealed it up as a crime scene, with two dead park rangers, their cell phones crushed.

Upon his release, Lex goes to the Daily Planet and meets with Chloe. He tells her that his father Lionel paid off the man who confessed to Lana’s murder. He wants Chloe to tell him everything she knows about the data Lana stole from him, but Chloe refuses and leaves.

Clark visits Chloe, who has been tracking stories about a “super girl” who has been showing up at elementary schools in the area. Clark goes to the most recent sighting and finds the girl talking to several young boys. Clark tries to stop her, whisking her away at superspeed. When he stops, he demands answers but she claims that she hasn’t killed anyone. He notices that she’s wearing a bracelet with the symbol of the House of El, and she explains that she’s looking for a particular boy: Kal-El.

Chloe is talking to Lois, warning her that her UFO story won’t help her get published at the Planet. The new editor, Grant Gabriel, comes in. Much to Chloe’s surprise, he expresses an interest in Lois’ tabloid-style story and says he’ll publish it.

The girl introduces herself as Kara and Clark takes her to the Kent farm. She explains that she’s been in suspended animation for the last 18 years and that her father Zor-El, brother of Jor-El sent her to Earth to find Kal-El. She asks Clark to help her find her spacecraft, which someone else took while she was searching for him. Clark brings her up to speed on the destruction of Krypton and the affects of kryptonite, and how they’re the last two survivors. As they set out to find the spacecraft, she warns that it has a self-destruct system that generates a nuclear explosion to ensure the ship doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.

The spacecraft is at a secret laboratory. A man in a suit orders the technicians to open the ship. When it starts to glow with nuclear energy, he tells the team to begin extraction.

Lois tries to convince Gabriel to let Chloe write the UFO story. He admits he isn’t particularly impressed with Chloe and wonders if she’s afraid she can’t stand by her story. In response, Lois shows him satellite photos she’s obtained showing someone moving the spacecraft by truck.

Lex learns that Lana is in Asia and leaves after her. Meanwhile, Clark and Kara arrive at the Daily Planet to meet with Chloe. Doing some research, Chloe learns that the ship’s alarm disrupts radio waves. Clark and Kara to go to the roof and Clark shows Kara how to use her new superhearing. Concentrating, she manages to locate the spacecraft’s signal.

Using the satellite photos, Lois locates the warehouse. Everyone has left and it’s still glowing on its way to a meltdown. When she touches it, the backlash knocks her out. Clark and Kara arrive and Kara contains the blast her body. However, the ship is totally disintegrated by the force of the blast.

As he flies to China, Lex listens to a tape of the last conversation he had with Lana. He finds her apartment and discovers that Lana has been expecting him. She wonders if he wants revenge but Lex asks for her forgiveness. She reveals that she discovered his plan to make a clone of her. When she discovered what was going on, Lana used the clone to provide a convincing “corpse” to make her fake death look real. When Lex offers his life as recompense, Lana considers but in the end can’t bring herself to kill him. Lex promises her that he will leave her alone from now on and then leaves.

Back at the Planet, Lois complains to her cousin that all the evidence of her UFO story disappeared. Gabriel arrives and congratulates her on her efforts, even though he admits he can’t run the story without proof. However, he does give her a job and a desk at the Planet… right across from Chloe. He assures her that if she keeps up the good work then she’ll soon become a full reporter at the paper.

At the barn, Clark tries to console Kara over the loss of her home. She talks of Krypton in her time and Clark offers her a place to stay as long as she wants it. Kara warns that there was a navigational crystal in the ship, and only a Kryptonian can destroy it.

In Washington, D.C., the man who supervised the examination of the spacecraft goes to his office at the Department of Domestic Security. He has the navigational crystal that the technicians extracted from the spacecraft.

Clark goes to the Fortress and talks to Jor-El. He describes Kara but the Jor-El construct doesn’t know who she is. It does warn that Zor-El was not interested in helping Krypton, and tells Clark to watch over Kara.

After returning to the manor, Lex studies a sketch of Kara and then tells his men to find her.
