Wrath - Recap

Clark gives Lana a romantic day culminating in a horse ride, and when she wonders why he notes that she’s seemed distant recently. A sudden storm spring up and they head back for the farm, but as they go past a windmill Clark is weakened by a piece of kryptonite. Lana picks it up to throw it away, but lightning strikes the windmill and goes through the kryptonite to hit Lana and Clark. The windmill starts to fall on the weakened Clark... and Lana catches it using superstrength.

The two of them superspeed to Clark’s barn where Lana is enthused about the sudden power rush. She suggests they make love now that she can withstand Clark’s strength, and Chloe feels seismic tremors in Smallville. She heads out to the barn and quickly realizes what’s up, and after Lana goes up stairs Chloe warns that when Eric Summers and Jonathan Kent got Clark’s powers, nothing good came of it. Clark asks Chloe to keep an eye on Lana, unaware that she’s using super-hearing to listen in on them. They end up at the Talon where Lana talks about her newfound powers and how she wants to use them to get a story of her own.

Lex is meeting with Dr. Jansen of Project Scion, who has brought them the liquefied remains of Milton Fine’s spaceship. The cylinder contains kryptonite to weaken the liquid, which is alive and trying to escape. Lex wants results and puts the cylinder and the Scion data file in a hidden safe at his manor. Lana is watching him via the surveillance camera she’s planted and superspeeds to the manor to steal the Scion data file.

Clark goes to Lionel, who is chatting with Martha in Washington. Clark warns that Lana now has powers and Lionel tells him about how Lana had him taken prisoner, and she shouldn’t be trusted. Clark goes back to the farm to find Lana and checks out her purse with a brochure for the Isis Foundation. Lex arrives and wants to know what Lana is up to and whether Clark is involved, then points out that Clark doesn’t trust Lana either and doesn’t know about Isis.

Lana interrupts a meeting between Lois and Gabriel, to get Gabriel to run the story on Lex and Scion. Gabriel refuses, since she doesn’t have any legally-obtained evidence. Lana gets into is face and knocks him out along with Lois when she tries to stop her. Lois is taken to the Smallville Hospital where Clark and Chloe check in. Once they know about Scion, Clark goes to track her down while Chloe tries to get a line on Scion.

After she gets treated, Lois tries to get out of the hospital and runs into Gabriel, who has shown up with flowers. Gabriel warns her again about getting involved with the Luthors but Lois just leaves.

Clark and Chloe are working on Scion and he spends much of his time defending Lex. He finally asks her about the Isis Foundation and Chloe takes him to the place. Meanwhile, Lex is on his phone talking to Jansen as he’s driving when Lana intercepts him. Clark and Chloe get to Isis and find the secret chamber with Lana’s surveillance gear. They find a recording of Lex’s cell phone and figure out where Lana has taken him.

Lana is at the Scion plant with Lex and demands answers. Lex reveals that he’s been monitoring the spaceships and strange activities and believes they’re a spearhead of an alien invasion. Lana thinks he’s lying and grabs a live cable to electrocute him. Lex tries to convince her not to kill him, warning that Clark won’t love her if she kills. He tries kissing her but Lana knocks him into a wall, rendering him unconscious. Clark arrives to stop her and when the two fight, they knock down the cylinder containing the spaceship liquid and the kryptonite. The kryptonite weakens both of them and Clark breaks the cylinder and throws away the liquid. He then grabs the cable and the kryptonite and reverses the power switch, restoring Lana to normal. They’re unaware that the sentient liquid is flowing into a drain.

Later at the Daily Planet, Gabriel is talking to someone on the phone and promising to destroy the computer file. After he hangs up, Lois arrives and Gabriel quickly hides what he’s doing, claiming he’s playing on-line poker. Lois admits she was wrong about her Luthor story and Gabriel kisses her. She accuses him of possible sexual harassment, then kisses him back.

Clark goes to confront Lex and wants to know what payback Lex has in mind. Lex claims he isn’t going to do anything and is happy that Lana still has feelings for him, to the point of obsession. Lana goes back to her surveillance center at the Isis Foundation and finds that Clark has disabled all of her cameras. Chloe is there and believes that Lana will eventually betray Clark. Lana claims she’d do anything for Clark, and Chloe notes that “anything” now includes killing. Finally, Chloe warns that she’ll do anything she can to keep Lana from bringing Clark down.

At Project Scion, Lex and Jansen are trying to find the missing alien liquid. After they leave, a technician is working and the spaceship liquid slips out of hiding, touches her, and takes her over.

Clark meets with Lana and she tries to explain, but refuses to apologize for trying to protect him. Clark acknowledges that she can’t trust him and he’s the reason for all the secrets he kept from her. Lana insists that she still love him, and wants to know if he’ll love her no matter what.
