<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Clark is at home looking at his recently discovered Polaroid of his mother Lara, and Kara arrives, returning from a surfing trip in Coast City. Clark tells her that Lana is visiting her Aunt Nell in Metropolis and they talk briefly about Lara. Kara promises to tell him more about her later and goes to bed. Clark then hears a woman’s voice calling out to him from the barn. He goes there and checks out the crystal, which he hid beneath the barn floor. He grasps the crystal and hears the voice of Lara, asking him to help her. The crystal teleports him to the Fortress in the Arctic. The Jor-El simulation speaks up and warns that Lara is dead, and that the crystal is a device of evil belonging to Jor-El. Clark ignores it and plunges the blue crystal into the crystalline control console. There’s a burst of light and energy flows through Clark and forms into... Lara. The two embrace... unaware that Zor-El is secretly watching them from the side.

Clark takes his mother back to the farm and Kara arrives. When she realizes that Clark hid her crystal from her, she’s furious, but Lara warns that Zor-el’s “replicant” must be present.

Lois meets with Gabriel to get him to run a story but he’s not impressed with her photos. They end up arguing then kissing, and Lois asks him if he hired her because of his attraction to her. He denies it and they go at it on the desk. Chloe comes in and, distracted, they don’t notice her. She quickly slips out, shocked.

Kara is at the Kent barn when Zor-El comes in and greets her as his daughter. When she challenges him, he convinces her that he’s reformed and wants her, Lara, and Clark to be together with him as a family. She accepts his claim and he tells her to go to the Fortress and wait for him while he gets the others. He then goes after Lionel at his office, and tries to force him to tell Clark and Kara to trust him. Lionel refuses and Zor-El throws him against the wall, badly injuring him. Clark arrives just in time and knocks Zor-El through the window. The EMTs take Lionel away after he warns Clark that Zor-El is looking for Kara.

Lois talks to Chloe, who reveals that she knows about her cousin’s affair with Gabriel. Chloe accepts that their relationship isn’t affecting Lois’ job, but warns that others won’t see it that way. Lois ignores her when Chloe tells her to break off the relationship.

Clark hides Lara at Oliver Queen’s Metropolis penthouse and calls in Lana. Lara reveals that she has Jor-El’s victory ring, which he received when he ascended to the Science Council. Clark puts it on and introduces Lana to Lara. He leaves but outside in the alley Zor-El arrives and tries to convince him to join forces with his uncle. Clark refuses, and is furious when Zor-El reveals that Kara told him where Lara was. He tries to punch Zor-El but discovers that the ring and its blue rock setting have stripped him of his powers. Zor-El tosses him down the alleyway but lets him live to spare Lara the grief.

Lara and Lana have tea and Lara senses a darkness within Clark’s girlfriend. She tells Lana not to let the darkness overwhelm her innate goodness, but they’re interrupted when Zor-El comes in. He tosses Lana aside and takes Lara with him to the Fortress, leaving Clark behind.

After Clark gets Lana to the hospital, he goes to see Chloe to get help rescuing Lara. She wonders if Lara doesn’t represent some kind of trap set by Zor-El, but Clark stands by his mother. Chloe can understand that and drives him to the Kent barn.

At Luthor Manor, Lex and Gabriel are shooting pool and talking about Lois. Lex tells Gabriel to break it off with Lois, since she’ll eventually figure out they’re working together. Gabriel initially refuses but Lex notes that he owes him.

Kara is at the Fortress waiting when Zor-El and Lara arrive. Realizing that Zor-El is evil, they refuse to help him until Zor-El threatens Clark. Lara offers herself if Zor-El will spare her son, and Zor-El accepts. He uses the Fortress’ equipment to wipe out humanity by blotting out the sun, but agrees to protect Clark.

Clark is trying to cut off the ring without any luck when Chloe arrives with the spaceship control key that Clark has been keeping in a book. The sun starts to dim and they realize that Zor-El is responsible.

The Daily Planet staff is staring up at the sky as well as the news of the “eclipse” spreads around the world. Gabriel gets Lois into his office and starts to tell her he’s breaking up with her... only for Lois to announce she’s breaking up with him. He agrees and they settle the matter... for about five seconds until they’re kissing again.

Lara knows that Jor-El would have hid a weapon in the Fortress and finds a dagger. Kara wants to use it herself, protecting Lara. Zor-El returns and says that he couldn’t find Clark to protect him, but Lara realizes it’s a trick. Kara grabs the knife and goes after him, but Zor-El easily catches her at it and starts to kill her. Clark arrives with green kryptonite, which he’s immune to (due to his missing power) but that weakens Zor-El. Time is running out for Earth and Kara tells Clark to shut down the eclipse device. To do so, Clark needs to destroy the blue crystal, even though the explosion may kill them all. Clark is reluctant to endanger Lara now that she’s been restored, but his mother insists that he do it. Zor-El attacks Kara and Clark has no choice but to destroy the crystal, causing a massive explosion.

Kara wakes up on a rainy street in Detroit. She staggers over to a nearby diner to find out where she is, and realizes that she can’t remember who she is.

Clark goes back to the barn where Lana tries to reassure him he did the right thing. Then she wonders if she’s worthy of the same kind of love and devotion that Clark gave to Lara. He assures her that she is. Meanwhile, Lois is working on the eclipse story and Chloe tries to convince her it was a natural occurrence. Lois is skeptical and when Gabriel comes in to give Lois a hard time, she lies to Chloe about breaking up the relationship.

At the manor, Lex is checking out the eclipse with his scientific team, but notes it caused minimal damage and they should continue with their plans. Gabriel comes in and lies that he broke it off with Lois. He also confronts Lex over the fact that he planted bugs on him. Lex apologizes, but warns him that no one can find out Gabriel’s secret: that he is Julian Luthor, Lex’s long-lost brother that Lionel gave up for adoption.

Clark goes to the Fortress to demand answers from Jor-El. He says that he didn’t send Kara away, and warns that since Clark ignored his warnings, he must suffer the consequences.
