Gemini - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Lois and Grant Gabriel are having sex in a closet at the Daily Planet and Lois pauses to complain that Gabriel is overpromoting the exposé she’s doing on Lex Luthor. Gabriel says that he’s sure it’ll be the biggest story of the year, but notes that Lex wants her to do the story.

Chloe is at her desk in the newsroom trying to get hold of Clark. She leaves him a message saying it’s been two weeks since she’s heard from him, and people are beginning to wonder about his story that he’s in Minnesota with his cousin Kara. Lois comes looking for Clark, since he promised to repair her satellite dish. Chloe gives Lois a special present for Christmas: her research on Lex Luthor. She tells Lois she should thank her for convincing her to break it off with Grant, unaware that Lois didn’t follow her advice. Lois doesn’t say anything in response and opens an envelope in her desk. As she does, she hears a cell phone ring. She takes it out and doesn’t recognize it. The man at the other end accuses her of ignoring his efforts to help her take down Lex. He informs Lois that he’s secretly planted a bomb on Chloe, and if Lois tries to warn her then he’ll detonate it.

At the manor, Gabriel is fencing with Lex. Lex wins and admits he took time out from his schedule to be with his brother Gabriel. Gabriel warns Lex against Lois doing the story, saying she might find something incriminating. Lex insists he has nothing to hide but warns that Gabriel needs to be careful or Lois might discover his real background.

The man on the phone, Adrian, tells Lois his story. He says that he’s a clone and he escaped from a LuthorCorp research facility. His body is aging rapidly and he’ll be dead of old age in two days. Lois tries to type a message on her computer to Chloe across the intranet, but Adrian tells her he cut her Ethernet line. Lois figures Adrian is watching her and spots a deliveryman with a cell phone. She chases him into a storage room and attacks him, but the guy insists he doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Lois finally believes him and lets him leave, but the man falls back into the room, stabbed dead with a pair of scissors. Adrian calls to warn her to stop playing games or the next time he’ll detonate the bomb.

Lana is taking care of the Kent farm when Clark arrives. He explains that he’s been at the Fortress and time flows differently there. He admits he hasn’t discovered anything about the missing Kara and they need to drop the matter. Clark wants to see Lana’s research on Lex, even though she denies she’s obsessed with him any longer. They go to the Isis Foundation and Clark admits that much of the situation is his fault because he wasn’t honest with her. In turn, Lana wasn’t honest with him and tried to protect him behind his back. Lana’s research has references to an alien invasion and a vial, and is tied in with a Project Scion.

At the paper, Lois tries to warn Chloe via a message on an interoffice memo envelope. Chloe gets it but doesn’t notice the message. As she comes over to talk to Lois, Adrian sends a text message telling Lois not to say anything and Lois fakes her way through a normal conversation.

Lana is keeping a former LutherCorp employee, Casey Brock, at a clinic. She and Clark go to see her and confirm that she’s suffering from metal poisoning and almost all the natural minerals in her body have been extracted. The woman starts rambling in a strange tongue and Clark recognizes it as Kryptonian.

Jimmy gets in an elevator with Chloe as she’s riding to the Christmas party. They chat awkwardly about the party, awkward given their recent breakup. Chloe finally notices the interoffice envelope and shows it to Jimmy. The elevator lights flicker and the car grinds to a halt.

Lois discovers that someone has put an out-of-service sign on the elevator. Adrian arrives in person and tells her that if she does anything, he’ll activate the bomb. He asks for the story on Lex that she’s been working. Meanwhile, Chloe goes through her purse, figuring the stalker somehow planted it there. As she searches, Jimmy spots some photos of the two of them together. Chloe hastily puts them away and then finds a small gift box containing plastic explosive.

As Adrian reads Lois’ story, he says that he has memories of Christmas with his family, but that they’re memories that Lex and his scientists implanted. Finally he’s satisfied with the story but says it isn’t enough: he wants Lois to get Lex’s confession.

In the elevator, Jimmy holds Chloe up to get better transmission on her cell phone. She slips and steps on his finger, injuring it. When he wonders who she’s calling, she admits she’s calling Clark but can’t explain why.

Adrian plants a hidden camera on Lois, and then tells her to get the confession. He’ll listen in via a hidden earpiece. He warns her that if she fails, he’ll kill Chloe.

Clark and Lana come to the paper to get Chloe’s help. Meanwhile, Lois goes to see Lex, who is meeting with Gabriel in his office. Adrian secretly tells her to mention Project Gemini. Lex recognizes it and Adrian tells Lois that he hid a gun in her purse. He tells her to point it at Lex to get the truth. As she tries, Lois mentions the Christmas memories that Adrian mentioned earlier. Lex manages to knock her out and realizes that someone is monitoring the conversation. Gabriel recognizes the memories that Lois described as his own and wonders how she and Adrian know his personal memories. Adrian comes in to confront his supposed prosecutors and confirming that he has the same childhood memories as Adrian. Gabriel wonders what Lex has done, but Lex denies that Adrian is a clone of Gabriel/Julian. Lex shoots Adrian, who activates the detonator.

The 60-second timer on the bomb activates. Chloe and Jimmy bang on the doors to get someone’s attention but no one hears them. Realizing that they’re doomed, Chloe says she’s a meteor freak and then kisses him.

Clark and Lana check out Lois’ computer and spot the message she sent to Chloe earlier. Clark locates Chloe with his superhearing goes to the elevator at superspeed, and gets the bomb. He takes it to the top of the building and throws it into the sky where it harmlessly explodes.

Lois wakes up to find Lex waiting for her. He tells her that Chloe is safe, Adrian escaped, and Gabriel has left to get help for Lois. Lex tells Lois that he’s now his boss: he’s bought the Daily Planet.

Later, Jimmy confronts Chloe and asks her about the kiss. She claims she would have kissed anyone trapped in the elevator when she had seconds left to live. Jimmy doesn’t believe it. He asks why she had to wait until a life-and-death situation to tell him about her power. Chloe admits she wasn’t sure how Jimmy would react upon finding she was a freak. She heals his finger using her power and asks him to keep her secret.

Lex is at the manor and finalizing the purchase of the Planet. Gabriel storms in and asks if Adrian was telling the truth. Lex denies it but Gabriel tells him to leave him alone and then goes to Lois’ apartment. He tells her that Lex is still keeping her on at the Planet. Lois worries that Lex will squelch her stories. Gabriel isn’t sure but is sure that they’re being together puts her career at risk. They share one more kiss before he leaves.

Chloe is at Clark at the farm trying to decipher the Kryptonian code. They determine that it’s a failed reboot message, the type a computer displays. Clark wonders if the computer will eventually adapt and successfully start itself up. He believes that it’s part of the Brainiac program, the black liquid metal. Lana comes in after Chloe leaves and wants to celebrate Clark’s return. Clark tells her that he loves her and they embrace. However, Lois is unaware that Clark’s face has briefly reverted to that of Bizarro.

At the Fortress of Solitude, Clark is entombed in crystal ice.
