Episode Recap

At the Daily Planet, Tess is on her cell phone and telling someone to wait. Clark comes in and she’s cuts off, and he demands to know why she’s running articles on Davis’ killing spree. Tess insists she’s not endangering people, but Clark is by refusing to step up and take care of Doomsday. Clark continues to insist he is a normal person, but Tess figures that once Davis claims his next victim, Clark will know where to find him. She points out that Chloe is protecting Davis but Clark insists that Chloe is being held hostage. Tess wonders if Clark is afraid to face his destiny and do what needs to be done. When she turns to the window, Clark hears Chloe calling for him with his superhearing and superspeeds away.

Chloe is running through the woods, covered in cuts and bruises. She stumbles onto the road and a truck heads right for her. Clark arrives in time to get her out of the way and tells her that she’s okay. In the brush, four persons watch them from hiding: Belle, a woman with electrical powers, and two men.

Clark takes Chloe to the farm where she explains that she and David hid at a hotel and he refused to let her leave. They left later and when they stopped at a gas station, Chloe made a run for it. She insists that no one is safe, least of all her, and that Clark needs to kill Doomsday.

Belle is with one of her teammates, Parasite, when the other woman, Livewire, calls her to a warehouse in Granville. Their fourth teammate, Neutron, is dead. Livewire explains that they found Doomsday and confront him, but he was immune to Neutron’s radiation, and the beast killed their teammate. Tess arrives and reminds them that they were supposed to stay together and simply track Doomsday until she could bring in the Traveler. Livewire refuses to work for Tess any more but Belle reminds her that Tess helped all of them and gave them a purpose. Livewire refuses to believe and starts to leave. Parasite grabs her and drains away her electrical powers. Belle promises Tess that she and Parasite won’t fail her and then leaves. Livewire looks to Tess and asks what she’s going to do with her.

Clark meets with Oliver at LuthorCorp. Oliver’s people haven’t located Doomsday, but Clark has a plan. He wants Oliver to help him get a piece of black kryptonite that Lex was using in his research. Clark plans to use it against Doomsday, but needs Oliver to steal it from the manor. Oliver agrees but warns Clark that sometimes they have to do what is necessary no matter how they feel.

Clark returns to the barn and removes a Kryptonian crystal from beneath the floorboards. Chloe comes in and he tells her that he plans to save Davis rather than kill him. He wasn’t going to tell her and he lied to Oliver. Clark plans to use the black kryptonite to split off Davis’ human self from the Doomsday beast, then use the crystal to send Doomsday to the Phantom Zone. He insists on salvaging whatever is good in Davis and saving it. They’re interrupted when Dr. Emil calls to tell them that Doomsday has struck in Granville. They go to the warehouse where Emil has found one of Doomsday’s bone spurs imbedded in the wall. There are two corpse, Livewire and Neutron. Emil determines they are meteor freaks and were on Doomsday’s trail. However, while Neutron was ripped apart, Livewire was killed when a GPS implant in her brain exploded. Chloe says she needs to go outside to get some air. Once she’s gone, Emil tells Clark that Chloe came to him to try and find a cure for Davis.

Chloe slips away and meets with Belle and Parasite. She tells them what happened but they say that Livewire was alive when they left her. Chloe wonders if Tess is lying to them and put GPS chips in all of them when they were at the Black Creek facility, but the others don’t believe it.

Tess is in her office at the Daily Planet tracking Chloe’s call to Belle when Oliver comes in with a bottle of wine. He hands it to her and says it’s to celebrate the fact the merged companies have gone green and opened a new geothermal center. Tess gives it back and tells him she isn’t interested, and tells him to get out. As Oliver takes the elevator down, he scans the bottle and records her fingerprint.

Clark goes to find Chloe at Isis and ask why she slipped away and has been ignoring her calls. He wonders if she can trust her and demands answers. Chloe finally admits that she knew Livewire from the Isis files, and connected her to Tess and a team of meteor freaks she was putting together. Another member of the team was Eva Greer, Tess’s assistant. Chloe claims that Tess betrayed Eva, but then clutches at her head and collapse. Clark cradles her in his arms and watches as she dies… and then transforms into Eva Greer.

Clark calls in Emil, who figures Eva was a shapeshifter that Tess planted in Isis. Emil figures that Tess may try to kill the other team members by triggering their GPS implant. Clark has Emil track the GPS implants so he can find Belle. He finds Belle, who is trying to call Eva. He offers his help to her, telling her that Tess killed Livewire and Eva. Belle doesn’t believe him but he shows her the GPS tracker. She vows to kill Tess for her betrayal but Clark refuses to let her. However, Parasite ambushes him and steals all of his powers. He’s surprised at how powerful Clark is, and superspeeds away with Belle.

Green Arrow sneaks into the manor and enters Tess’ bedroom. Using the scanned fingerprint, he gets into Lex’s private vault and finds the black kryptonite. When he hears Tess outside, he quickly takes off his clothes and gets into bed, then suggests she join him. Tess tells him to leave and he reminds her of how they used to spend a lot of time naked when they were on vacation. As he wonders if she still has feelings for him, a burst of electricity breaks down the wall and a piece of debris knows Oliver unconscious. Belle and Parasite come in as Tess tries to detonate their GPS implants, but Parasite points out he used his stolen electrical powers to knock out the implants.

Clark calls Emil, who sends a car to him so he can drive to the manor.

Parasite and Belle take Tess to the study and start torturing her. Tess insists that Livewire and Eva betrayed them, but Belle doesn’t believe her and demands the Black Creek file. She and Parasite plan to form their own League. Clark walks in and tells them to release Tess. Belle punches Tess unconscious while Parasite grabs Clark. Clark tells Belle she’s better than this, but she says that she’d rather be one of the bad guys and embraces her identity as Plastique. However, Green Arrow arrives and shoots her through the shoulder, knocking her out. Parasite goes after him but Green Arrow holds up a kryptonite ring. Parasite collapses in pain and Green Oliver beats him, but Clark stops him before it’s too late. Clark grabs Parasite and tells him to give back his powers and end his pain. Parasite does so and then passes out. Clark watches as Green Arrow carries the unconscious Tess away.

The next day, Clark goes to see Oliver and ask why he has the kryptonite ring. Oliver says he took it from Lex, and admits that he killed Clark’s one-time free. Clark wonders why he had the ring on him and if he plans to us it on Clark. Oliver said it wasn’t easy killing Lex and he still lives the guilt, but Clark will have to do the same when he must kill Davis. Clark insists he’ll handle Davis without Oliver’s help and takes the black kryptonite. Oliver realizes Clark isn’t going to kill Davis and tells him that Doomsday will kill more people because Clark isn’t willing to compromise his principles. Clark insists that they have to serve as examples to others, and wonders if Oliver is on his side or not.

Clark goes to the barn but discovers the crystal is gone. Tess arrives and tells him that she learned about the crystal from Eva when she was undercover at Isis. When Clark accuses her of killing Eva and Livewire, Tess claims that Lex implanted the chips and they malfunctioned. Clark doesn’t believe her, and she tells him that she destroyed the crystal to force Clark to met his destiny and kill his arch-nemesis. Clark argues she’s no different from Lex, but Tess says that she won’t betray him the way that Lex did. When Clark asks why she wants Davis dead so badly, Tess claims that the existence of an entire civilization depends on Doomsday’s death, and then leaves.

At the manor, Tess goes to her study where a Kryptonian sphere is glowing with power. It floats into the air and someone speaks through it, asking if Clark is ready to fulfill the prophecy. Tess tells it that Clark is ready, and the voice assures her that she will be the savior of the city of Kandor.
