The second season opens with auditions in New York and Charleston, S.C. The first auditions were judge by three of the producers from American Idol. The second round of judging included a set of two pieces picked by a choreographer to perform, one solo and one with a partner. Those who succeeded will move on to Las Vegas. Also, Brit Cat Deeley is introduced as the competition's new host.
This special 90 minute episode would see the auditions from Los Angeles over a 2 day period. The judging would again focus on two pieces, both solo and with a partner. They results seem to have focused more on the like-ability of the performers instead of mere talent. The first day saw barely anyone passing through from their solo efforts and that round was dropped for the next day.
The auditions continue in world famous Chicago Theater, where each dancer is given one minute to dazzle the judges with their best routine. This year's winner will receive a car, $100,000 and a one year contract to perform with Celine Dion's Las Vegas show.
115 dancers will be called back to compete for the grand prize. Their first challenge is to be divided into groups of 5, and then given routines from the five choreographers in their specialties. At the end of the night, just 43 would remain.
The remaining 43 perform in front of the judges and by days end, 20 would survive...10 men and 10 women.

The remaining 16 dancers perform to Poison choreographed by Shane Sparks. The next two contestants will be eliminated by the shows end.

After dancing their solos the judges eliminate two more dancers. Jessica for the girls - mostly because of her lack of personality. Jaymz for the boys - apparently because he oddly chose a solo from a style that wasn't his specialty.

Along with their solo performances, Heidi and Travis would then dance to Hip Hop while Donyelle and Benji danced to a Broadway tune.
