South Park: Mecha-Streisand

Barbra Streisand comes to South Park and is searching for an item that Kyle found. She takes it from the boys and transforms in to Mecha-Streisand and starts a rampage. South Park's fate lies in the hands of Leonard Maltin, Sydney Poitier, and Robert Smith.

Chef: Barbra Streisand? You mean like, THE Barbra Streisand?

Barbra Streisand is a world-famous singer and actress. She is said to have one of the best voices in the music business, but is also well-known for her controversial political views.

Barbra Streisand: You know who I am, don't you?
Officer Barbrady: Well, you ain't Fiona Apple, and if you ain't Fiona Apple, I don't give a rat's ass.

Fiona Apple is a singer-songwriter best known for her hit single, "Criminal". Her debut album, Tidal, was released in 1996.

Cartman: I said, 'Kyle, I will kick you in the nuts.' But he didn't give it back to me.... so I kicked him square in the nuts, and he cried - like Nancy Kerrigan!

Nancy Kerrigan won the silver medal for ladies figure skating in the 1994 Olympics. She became the subject of sympathy when she was attacked and clubbed on the knee by friends of rival skater, Tonya Harding. This is the second Nancy Kerrigan reference on the show. The first being in the episode, "Damien."

Chef: Well, I'll be a teenage girl backstage at am Aerosmith concert. Leonard Maltin in my cafeteria. I'm Chef.

Aerosmith is a popular American rock band whose hit songs include "Dream On", "Walk This Way", and "Angel". Leonard Maltin is a well-known movie critic and film historian.

Leonard Maltin: Have you seen her?!
Chef: No. Not since Yentl.

Yentl is a movie starring Barbra Streisand, released in 1983, about a young Jewish woman who disguises herself as a boy so she could join a strict religious training program where girls were not allowed.

Barbra Streisand: So! I'm uh... so I'm a very famous and very important individual.
Stan: Like John Elway important?

John Elway was the quarterback for the Denver Broncos football team from 1993 - 1998. This is the second time Elway has been mentioned, the first time was in the episode, "Mr. Hankey, the Christmas Poo".

When Barbra Streisand tries to disguise herself, she dons a Groucho Marx mask. Groucho Marx was an American comedian, famous for his silly wit and expressive eyebrows, and for hosting the show, You Bet Your Life.

Chef: Sidney Poitier?
Sidney Poitier: That's right. I'm Sidney Poitier.

Sidney Poitier is an Academy Award-winning actor known for starring in movies such as Blackboard Jungle, and Lilies of the Field.

Leonard Maltin: Have you ever heard of the band called, The Cure?
Chef: Ooh, come oonn! Don't tell me The Cure has something to do with this too!
Leonard Maltin: No, no. Just the lead singer.

The Cure is a British band that was particularly popular in the 1980's and 1990's. The lead singer's name is Robert Smith.
