Cultural References
Visual: The Jakovasaur

The Jakovasaur is an allusion to Jar Jar Binks from the film, Star Wars Episode 1, The Phantom Menace and the public's reaction to his annoying personality.

His clumsiness and the Jakovasaur's expulsion to France where he's appreciated is an allusion to Jerry Lewis.
Lewis was hugely popular in France in the 1960s.

TV Announcer: Look at this sword - only on House Shopping Network. It has a dragon on the blade. It's got a dragon painted right on the blade! You should buy this samurai sword....

The House Shopping Network is a parody of the Home Shopping Network.

Mr. Garrison: Now, does anyone know why Chubby Checker left The Beatles in 1972?

Chubby Checker is an American musician known for his song "The Twist." He was never actually a member of The Beatles, despite Garrison's statement, though he did record a cover of The Beatles' song, "Back in the USSR".

Jakov: What? You mean MTV played a video that wasn't Will Smith?

Will Smith is a famous actor and rapper. Some of his most popular videos were for the songs, "Parents Just Don't Understand", "Miami", and "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It".
