The Passion of the Jew - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
The boys are playing together when Kyle and Cartman begin to argue. Cartman brings up the fact that Kyle is Jewish, and he tells Kyle about the movie, The Passion of the Christ and how Mel Gibson says Jews are the devil. Cartman really rubs it in Kyle’s face about how popular The Passion of the Christ was, and taunts Kyle about how he must be scared to see the film, because he’s scared of the truth.

Kyle decides to see the film. While he watches, he cringes and hides his eyes because of the violence. At the end of the movie, Kyle wonders how the Jews could do such a horrible thing to Jesus. Kyle goes to see Cartman and tells him he was right. Cartman kneels and prays to Mel Gibson.

Stan and Kenny notice how many people have gone to see the film, so they watch it too. They think the movie sucked, and demand their money back, saying it was no more than a glorified snuff film. The attendant refuses to refund their money, and tells them to see Mel Gibson if they want a refund. Meanwhile, Kyle is having nightmares about the movie. He pictures himself in the crowd, taunting and poking Jesus, and wakes up screaming.

Stan and Kenny call Mel Gibson’s fan club to get their money back, but Cartman is the president and he answers the phone. Stan knows they won’t get their money back that way, so he and Kenny set out for Malibu to see Mel Gibson. Cartman prepares to hold South Park’s first Mel Gibson fan club meeting, and he dresses like Hitler. As Cartman begins to lead the meeting, the enthusiastic Christians don’t realize that Cartman has sinister plans.

Stan and Kenny arrive at Mel Gibson’s home, and ask for their refund. Mel strips and tells them they’ll have to torture him to get their money. He even straps himself down and tells the boys where he keeps his whips. Stan notes that Mel is acting crazy, which angers Mel enough that he beings whooping and shooting a gun. Kyle visits a priest to ask questions about the Jews’ role in Christ’s death. The priest tells him that not many details of the Passion were written down, and that the story of the Passion was often performed during the middle ages to incite protests against the Jews. This makes Kyle feel better, and he now knows what he has to do. Back at Mel Gibson’s, Stan & Kenny finally escape, but Mel chases after them.

Cartman continues preaching to the Mel Gibson fan club, trying to incite another holocaust. His club members still don’t realize what he’s doing, and they follow him through the streets of South Park. Kyle goes to temple, and urges the Jewish community to apologize for the death of Christ. At that very moment, Cartman leads the fan club marching past the temple, and a huge war seems about to start between the Christians and the Jews.

Everyone is distracted when Stan and Kenny arrive home, still being chased by Mel Gibson, who is wearing nothing but his underpants and blue face paint. Mel is acting so freakishly weird that the Christians are totally turned off, and Kyle can’t believe that this is the man who made the movie that worried him so much. Stan tells people that if they want to be Christians, they should base their faith on how Jesus lived, not on how he died.
