AWESOM-O - Recap

Butters is at home when a large, mysterious box is delivered to his doorstep. He opens it, and out steps AWESOM-O 4000, a robot with Cartman’s voice, who says he was sent to Butters from Japan to be his new best friend. AWESOM-O tells Butters that he should share all his secrets with him. Butters tells AWESOM-O that he has to wear a diaper and take anal suppositories because of a medical condition, and that he gets bullied by Cartman at school.

Cartman is just about to embarrass Butters by revealing that he is AWESOM-O, when Butters explains that if Cartman bullies him again, he’ll show everyone the videotape he made of Cartman singing and dancing dressed as Britney Spears. Cartman becomes obsessed with finding the videotape, but he’s stuck in his role as AWESOM-O, and has to spend time with Butters. They play ball, see a movie, eat, and do everything together. Mr. and Mrs. Stotch think Cartman and Butters are just having fun; they don’t realize that Butters believes AWESOM-O is really a robot.

Butters has AWESOM-O put in his suppository, and they go to sleep. When Butters wakes up, he sees his bedroom has been ransacked and that AWESOM-O did it. AWESOM-O tells him that he was just re-organizing his things. Butters tells him he’s been a bad robot, and spanks him.

The doorbell rings and Butters tells AWESOM-O to answer it. It’s the rest of the boys, and Cartman urges them to play along. He lets them in, and Butters tells AWESOM-O to get his guests some Sunny Delight. Meanwhile, Mrs. Stotch is speaking to Mrs. Cartman on the phone, telling her how happy she is that their sons are getting along so well. Mrs. Stotch asks her if Cartman can go with Butters to visit Aunt Nelly in Los Angeles, and Mrs. Cartman agrees.

Butters and AWESOM-O arrive in L.A. AWESOM-O goes into the restroom, takes off his robot headpiece and begins eating toothpaste, as he couldn’t eat on the plane in his costume. They go sightseeing all over L.A. Butters shows AWESOM-O the snooty restaurant where movie producers eat, and there are two producers there trying to think of great ideas for films. Outside the restaurant, AWESOM-O is drawing quite a crowd as a novelty act, and it attracts the attention of the producers, who think he’s a real robot. They want to use AWESOM-O to come up with new movie plots. AWESOM-O starts pitching ideas, and the producers love them. They pay AWESOM-O one hundred dollars per movie idea, but Butters sends the money to children in third world countries, which makes Cartman furious.

The military becomes aware of AWESOM-O, and wants to use him as a weapon. One of the producers is trying to seduce AWESOM-O, who runs down the hall in a panic. As AWESOM-O is trying to escape, he’s kidnapped by the military. They are amazed that he can power himself on, and even more amazed when they realize he’s sentient. Cartman tries to explain who he really is, but they don’t believe him, and want to re-program him. They are just about to pierce him with a giant drill, when a rogue scientist saves him. Meanwhile, Butters is walking the streets in despair, missing his robot. He sees the military van and follows it to where they are holding AWESOM-O. Cartman is about to reveal himself, but Butters storms in, so he can’t. Butters hugs him and tells the military officials not to kill AWESOM-O, because they’re best friends.

They military personnel are starting to give in to the touching scene, when Cartman unexpectedly farts. Butters gets suspicious, and reaches out to remove AWESOM-O’s headpiece, when the scene cuts to a video of Cartman dressed as Britney Spears. He sings and dances, and rubs up against a cut-out of Justin Timberlake.
