South Park: Free Willzyx

Fooled by a pair of practical joker sea-life trainers, Kyle convinces the other boys that they need to free a "talking" whale and allow him to be reunited with his family on the moon. The boys' plan to save the whale becomes more complex than they originally thought, and soon they are looking for places to hide the poor creature.

Episode Notes
The one-note characters in this episode have the same names as one-note characters from the previous episode "Trapped in the Closet." The names are Kelly, Brian, and Mike.

This episode marks the first time we see the boys drawn in a photorealistic style, from a police sketch.

Episode Quotes
Brian: That's Kelly riding on Jambu's nose! I wish Kelly would ride on my nose.

Stan: I wonder if he'll ever come back and visit us.
Kyle: I don't know, but at least from now on, every time we look at the moon, we can know that Willzyx is up there, dancing with the other zypods in his castle.
(Cut to a shot of Willzyx on the moon; dead)

Cultural References
Title: Free Willzyx

The episode title is a spoofed reference to the 1993 movie, Free Willy.

Stan: They were going to do it for that 'N Sync guy.

Stan is referring to Lance Bass, one of the members of the band, 'N Sync.

Kyle: Yes, yes, hello? Is this Mr. Sugiyama with the Japanese space program?

Sugiyama is the last name of Trey Parker's wife (she was his fiancée at the time).

Sheila: Kyle bubbe, we're taking Ike to the new Harry Potter movie. Wanna join us?

Sheila is referring to the film, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005).
