We learn that Ms. Garrison's new first name is "Janet."

During a 2008 marathon leading up to season 12, this episode aired as being the "Most X-Rated."

Ms. Garrison: You boys make me sick! You're well on your way to being men, who only think with their penises! I am assigning all of you all weekend homework! You are going to read Hemmingway's book, The Old Man and The Sea!
Cartman: Have you lost your mind?
Stan: Dude, we can't read an entire book in one weekend!
Ms. Garrison: Oh, that's too bad, dude. Maybe if you boys could keep your penises in your pants once in a while you'd get more done!
Butters: But Teacher, my penis never slips out of my pants! Except sometimes when I'm wearin' pajamas.

Ms. Garrison: Scissor me timbers!

Cartman: All right, did you write the four essays?
Mexican Laborer: Sí, we all wrote essays for you.
The Boys: All right!
Cartman: Okay, let's have 'em.
Mexican Laborer #2: Have what?
Kyle: You said you all wrote essays.
Mexican Laborer: Well, my ese lives in Miami. I wrote to him like you said, but I don't think he got the letter yet.

Ms. Garrison: Kids, I need to tell you something that you might find shocking. (sighs) I'm gay.
Stan: Again?

Ms. Garrison hires the group of Mexican laborers to infiltrate the Persians. This seems out of character for a person who said, "How about we get rid of all the Mexicans?" in the episode, "It's Christmas in Canada." To be fair, that statement was uttered back when Ms. Garrison was still a male, so perhaps she's become more tolerant of Latino culture since her sex-change operation.

Narrator: And so it had begun. By kicking the Persian messenger in the balls, the lesbos had sent a message. All over the country lesbians heard of the brave standoff.

With this line begins a parody of the 2007 film, 300. The narration, battle scenes, and some of the characters resemble those from the film.

"The Old Man and the Sea," written in 1951 and published in 1952, was one of the last major works of fiction from Ernest Hemmingway. It's the story of an aging Cuban fisherman who one day is out at sea in the Gulf Stream struggling with a giant marlin.
