The Carlin Family arrives in Los Angeles from Ohio, Spencer meets a new friend named Ashley Davies, they hit it off almost immediately. Glenn on the other hand is a magnificent basketball player, and is trying to become part of the team. And there he runs into Basketball star Aiden who gets jealous of the new boy.
And Madison meets Spencer and tells her to choose her friend more carefully. Clay run into trouble while talking to a girl named Chelsea, her boyfriend Dallas a bulky highschooler who beats up Clay also, Clay meets Sean and there Clay learns that being black is a crime in Los Angeles when being pulled over by two white cops.
Things heat up between Aiden and Spencer at Ashley's rock show, much to Ashley's surprise and jealousy.
Ashley warns Spencer that her new friend may want a little more than friendship.
As Clay's dream date with Chelsea (Aasha Davis) draws near, he must contend with a lot of unwanted attention and advice after it becomes public knowledge that he's still a virgin. Meanwhile, Ashley decides to retaliate after gossip is spread about her by Madison and Sherry.

When Ashley and Kyla get their inheritance from their father’s estate, Ashley thinks the money will give her the opportunity to get away with Spencer. However, when Aiden decides he wants a second chance with Ashley, it throws a major dent in her plans. Later, when Spencer finds out that Ashley and Aiden spent the night together, she decides to end her relationship with Ashley. Meanwhile, Glen tries to think of a way to get out of serving in the Army.
Tired of living her mother, Ashley decides to move out and asks Kyla if she wants to purchase a loft with her. Now that they’re living together, the girls start acting more like sisters when they bond at a fashion show’s after-party. Meanwhile, Chelsea and Spenser are having a hard time moving on after Clay’s death and are hesitant to watch the True Life documentary about the school shooting. It is only after Chelsea and Spencer feel the baby kick that they feel ready to watch the documentary and attempt moving on with their lives.
While Spencer spends the day at Chelsea’s studio with Carmen, Ashley is having a hard time figuring out who she wants to be with, especially after Aiden puts his foot down with the way she leads him on. Meanwhile Madison learns what Jake has in store for her when she goes back to his place for a romantic dance lesson.
As Spencer tries to protect Carmen from Ashley, Aiden tries to protect himself from himself.
Spencer's done with Carmen, and just in time too. Ashley needs her support, because an old friend from New York is ready to make her famous. Meanwhile, Aiden and Madison figure that since they're both unattached, maybe they could try attaching every once in a while. And Glen discovers that Chelsea is thinking of changing her plans for the baby, but plans sometimes have a way of changing themselves.
Jake's working hard to make Kyla the new It girl, but when she finds out that Ashley's poised to out-It her, It hits the fan. Aiden's there to see it splatter, and realizes that he might be splattering along with it. Meanwhile, Spencer discovers that guys have a hard time distinguishing being with her from being with her.
