Mary Jane has been Peter's crush since he first laid eyes on her. Peter attempts to have a working relationship with Mary Jane, though with his dual life as Spider-Man, he was unsuccessful.
Mary Jane is perhaps one of the series' most important characters, as she was sent into another dimension by the Green Goblin's time distorter, along with the Green Goblin. Mary Jane does not appear for a long while, until she returns in season four in the episode "
The Return of the Green Goblin", in which she comes back, confused at where she'd gone. Peter takes no time in showing Mary Jane his secret, then proposing to her. She accepts, and they get married, though it is later proven that this Mary Jane is an unstable clone of the original.
