Madame Web started as an aid to Spider-Man in season three, giving him tasks that were, unbeknownst to Spider-Man, training him to be the perfect warrior and leader in the Secret Wars saga. Madame Web is not from Earth; she is from a world far more advanced than Spider-Man's, though she traveled there to train him to save the entire universe and every dimension in it from Spider-Carnage. Although she has vast powers, beyond what any human could dream of, she is confined to a life support system, which is shaped like a web. Without it, she would not last on Earth. Madame Web can venture into the future, which is how she gives Spider-Man advice on how to beat his adversary.
After Spider-Man blames Madame Web for losing Mary Jane to the Green Goblin's time distorter, Spider-Man tells Madame Web that he never wants to see her again. She does as he wishes, and he never encounters her again until the Secret Wars saga.
