Man-Spider first appeared in season two during the Neogenic Nightmare story arc, in which Spider-Man's DNA which was altered by the spider that bit him was not done changing. Soon, he grew four arms, and later became a human-Spider while battling the Punisher, who believes Spider-Man to be a villain due to his bad publicity with the Daily Bugle. Man-Spider now possesses the entire appearance of a Spider, with organic webbing, eight arms and legs (combined), the power to spew acid, and more. Man-Spider kidnaps the Punisher, and takes him to a cave, where he webs him up from head to toe, and plans to eat him. Before he can do so, he is tracked down by Sergei Kravenoff, who has become Kraven the Hunter once more to foil Man-Spider's plot. Alongside Kraven is Dr. Maria Crawford with the cure for Spider-Man's transformation, though Spider-Man was forced to take treatments by the Neogenic Recombinator every day, otherwise he'd return to his Man-Spider state once more. He was later cured when he was attacked by The Vulture, who stole Spider-Man's mutation disease, along with Spider-Man's youth. Once Dr. Connors gave Spider-Man his youth back, he left the mutation disease in The Vulture's body, ridding Spider-Man of the Man-Spider mutation disease forever more.
